To crochet these sweet little socks, you only need a small amount of yarn, a matching hook, and a few basic tools you likely already have in your kit.

Supplies You’ll Need

  • Yarn: Red Heart Anne Geddes Baby (Tangerine) (discontinued). 80% acrylic, 20% nylon. 100 g, 310 m (339 yds).

  • You will need less than 339 yds to make 2 pairs of slippers

This pattern includes instructions for three sizes. Choose your size below and follow the rounds as written for a perfect fit.

Little Baby Socks – Free Crochet Pattern – 3 Sizes

Using your 3.75 mm (F) crochet hook, or size required for gauge:

0-3 months Little Baby Socks

  • approximately 3.25 inches long x 2 inches wide

Crochet the Toe

Begin shaping the toe and build the foundation for the sock.

R1: Ch 5, beg in 2nd ch from hook – 3 sc , 1 sc in each of next 2, 3 sc in last turn to work other side of the ch, 1 sc in each of next 2 [10]

R2: 2 sc in each of the next 3, 1 sc in each of next 2, 2 sc in each of next 3, 1 sc in each of next 2 [16]

R3: (2 sc in first, 1 sc in next) rep 3 times, 1 sc in each of next 2, (2 sc in first, 1 sc in next) rep 3 times, 1 sc in each of next 2 [22]

Create the Ankle Opening and the Heel

Shape the heel section to give the sock its fit.

R13: 1 sc in next 9 sts to bring you to the side edge (note the 9th st); skip all rem sts, ch 1, turn [9]

R21: 1 sc in each of the next 6 sts, sc2tog (these are the sts left from R19), 1 sc in each of the 6 row ends, sl st into the same stitch as the 12th st in R14 (this does not count as a stitch and you will never work into it). Ch 1, turn. [13]

R22: sc2tog, 1 sc in each of the next 9 sts, sc2tog. Ch 1, Turn. [11]

R23: sc2tog, 1 sc in each of the next 2 sts, sc2tog, 1 sc in each of the next 3 sts, sc2tog, ch 1 , turn [8]

R24: sc2tog, 1 sc in the next st, sc2tog, 1 sc the next st, sc2tog, ch 1, turn [5]

Crochet the Leg

Work evenly around to create the leg section. This adds height above the ankle and gives a smooth transition to the ribbed top.

Crochet the Top of the Sock

To finish the sock, crochet the ribbed top section. This creates a stretchy edge and a space to thread the ribbon through.

Finish off with an invisible join and weave in ends.
