There’s still lots of time before Christmas to do a crochet project…but it’s never too early to start something good! ☺

Well, that’s what I did when I found the exact colors I wanted for a Christmas project…I made a cozy for my IKEA Mug!

Larksfoot Stitch IKEA Mug Cozy | Guest Post Made in Craftadise @OombawkaDesign

 

Larksfoot – IKEA Mug Cozy

Materials:

  • 100% Premium Micro Acrylic Yarn – {I used Red, White and Green}
  • 3.5mm crochet hook (Recommended hook size for yarn is 4mm)
  • Tapestry Needle to weave in the ends
  • Scissors

Abbreviations:

ch – chain
ss – slip stich
sc – single crochet
dc – double crochet
Rep – Repeat
long-dc – long double crochet
YOH – yarn over hook

LONG-DC: Yoh and draw up a loop in next ch-1 sp 2 rows below. (Yoh and draw through 2 loops on hook) twice.

Gauge: [DC – 5 stitches and 2 rows = 1 x 1 inch]

Finished Size: 8.5” length x 2.5” height

Notes:

  • You can make longer or shorter cozy by changing the length of initial chain and make corresponding changes.
  • Your chain count should be in {(multiples of 4) + 1} to make Larksfoot stitch.

Pattern:

{with Red yarn}

Round 1: Ch 41.

Round 2: 1 DC in 4th ch from the hook (counts as 2 DC). 1 DC in next ch. *(Ch 1, Skip next ch, 1 DC  in each of next 3 ch)* Rep from *to* till the end of ch.

Round 3: Ch 3 (counts as dc). Turn. 1 DC in each of next 2 DC. *(Ch 1, Skip next ch-1 sp, 1 DC in each of next 3 DC)*. Rep from *to* till the end of row. Join White Yarn.

{with White yarn}

Round 4: Ch 4 (counts as DC and ch 1). Turn. *(Skip next DC, 1 DC in next DC, 1 LONG-DC in next ch-1 space two rows below, 1 dc in next DC, Ch 1)*. Rep from *to*  till last DC. 1 DC in top of ch 3.

Round 5: Ch 4 (counts as DC and ch 1). Turn. *(1 dc in each of next 3 sts, Ch 1, Skip next ch-1 space. Rep from *to* till last dc. 1 dc in 3rd ch of ch 4. Join Green yarn.

Round 6: Ch 3 (counts as dc). Turn. 1 LONG-DC in next ch-1 space 2 rows below. 1 DC in the next dc. *(Ch 1, Skip next DC, 1 DC in next DC. 1 LONG-DC in next ch-1 space 2 rows below, 1 DC in next DC)*. Rep from *to*  to last 4 sts. Ch 1. Skip next DC. 1 DC in next DC. 1 DC in next ch-1 space. 1 DC in 3rd ch of ch 4.

Round 7: Ch 3 (counts as dc). Turn. 1 DC in each of next 2 DC. *Ch 1, Skip next ch-1 space, 1 DC in each of next 3 DC)*. Rep from *to* till the end of row.

Fasten off and weave the ends.

BORDER & BUTTON LOOP: {with White yarn}

  1. Attach the yarn to one corner of the rectangle.
  2. Ch1. 1 SC around.
  3. On one of the shorter side [ SC 2, Ch 10 (or) 12, SS in next stitch ] This forms one Button Loop. Continue SC and make another Button Loop.
  4. Join with the first SC made.
  5. Fasten off and weave the ends.

Take two ¾” button and attach it as in the image. Attach the top one near the border and the second one slightly away from the border.
