You can make this set in less than 1 hour – to be honest it took me about 40 minutes to make the set but I am familiar with the hook, thread and stitch.
What you Need:
- Seed Beads (6/0) 4 mm round
- Aunt Lydia’s Classic 10 Crochet Thread
- 2.25 mm (B) Crochet Hook
Forever Summer Necklace and Bracelet Set
Forever Summer Necklace
Finished Length: 40″ long
Step 1: Thread 158 seed beads onto your Aunt Lydia’s Classic 10 Cotton Thread with a small needle, or using a Big Eye Beading Needle (the brand I have is Beadalon and I purchased a 4 pack at Michaels)
R1: (ch 3, slide 2 beads down) 79 times, ch 4, turn
R2: Beg in the 2nd ch from the hook, 1 sl st in each of the next 2 chs, sl st in the next ch, between the loops the beads are on and the other 2 loops of the ch st. *Ch 3, skip 2 chs, 1 sl st in the next ch in both remaining loops (the beads are on the 3 rd loop)* repeat from * to * 77 times. 1 sl st in each of the remaining 3 chs. Finish off and sew the two ends together. Weave in ends.

This makes your completed 40″ long necklace. You can wear it like this – it is very delicate and quite lovely!
Or you can pick it in your hands – one hand on each end of the strand and then twist it gently so it winds about itself (not too tight!).
Then use the following clasp to secure the two ends you were holding together to wear this pretty necklace as a choker style instead! When worn as a choker it is approximately 20″.
Clasp:
Step 1: Thread 2 beads onto your Crochet Cotton Thread.
Ch 3, 8 sc in the 2nd ch frm the hook, sl st to the 1st sc to join. Chain 8 slide 2 beads down, ch 1, turn and sl st back in each of the ch 8. Finish off and weave in ends.
To make a pretty bracelet to match follow these instructions:
Forever Summer Bracelet
Finished Length: 16″ long
Step 1: Thread 64 seed beads onto your Aunt Lydia’s Classic 10 Cotton Thread with a small needle, or using a a Big Eye Beading Needle.
R1: (ch 3, slide 2 beads down) 32 times, ch 4, turn
R2: Beg in the 2nd ch from the hook, 1 sl st in each of the next 2 chs, sl st in the next ch, between the loops the beads are on and the other 2 loops of the ch st. *Ch 3, skip 2 chs, 1 sl st in the next ch in both remaining loops (the beads are on the 3 rd loop)* repeat from * to * 30 times. 1 sl st in each of the remaining 3 chs. Finish off and sew the two ends together. Weave in ends.
You can wrap this around your wrist twice as is or using the same method to twist/wind the bracelet about itself. You can either use the same clasp as above or you can sew the ends together and slide this over your hand to wear on your wrist. The finished length when twisted is approximately 8″.

Hi DavetteB, It could work if you had the little elastic adjusters to add to the ends. The thread is strong enough to support some weight and it is easy to customize the length. Hope this helps, Rhondda
Would this work to make an eyeglass chain? It’s lovely.
Hi Sylvia, Of course 🙂 this would be fine. I would love if you would provide a link to my website in the printed copy of the tutorial please. So they can contact me if they have questions or to see the other patterns and tutorials I have available. Best of luck with your courses, Rhondda (PS the pattern is in US terms)
This is a really lovely idea. Would you mind if I use this tutorial during one of my crochet workshops?
Hi Ollie, Yes I have seen some designs crocheted that include beads 🙂 I have also seen and used some yarns that already have the beads added for us – I believe I got the yarn at Darn Good Yarn. The beads move freely along the yarn and you can position them where you wish as you crochet or let them take part in your project as they reach your hook. All the best, Rhondda
Has anyone added beads to regular crochet, I.e., scarves, hats, or blankets. Just wonderingly.
I hope your forever summer necklace turns out beautifully!
Very welcome! I’m happy you like the Forever Summer Necklace and Bracelet Set!
