Helpful Tutorial

Notes:

  • Stitch multiple of 2
  • Initial ch 3 counts as a 1 dc (the first stitch).
  • Initial ch 1 does not count as a stitch.
  • When I work into the foundation chain, I prefer working into the back bar (back bump) of the chain. You can work under the back loop only if you prefer.
  • TIP: When wearing your headband wear R1 at the top (near the crown of your head). It doesn’t stretch as much as the last row you work so will help keep your headband in place so it doesn’t slide down off your head!

Finishing Instructions for all Earwarmers

  • Finish off leaving a long tail for seaming. You can either whipstitch the two edges together for a regular warm headband or make a twist-front headband (I’ve included the instructions below).

How to Make a Twist Front Headband

  1. Thread your yarn-end on your yarn needle.
  2. Place your headband on a flat surface with the WS (wrong-sides) facing up.
  3. Fold the headband in half, bringing the two side edges together.
  4. Fold the side edges (short edges) in half to create little open V shapes that can be layered together. Flatten the layers together.
  5. Grasp all 4 layers firmly with the hand you do not sew with and using your needle, sew through all 4 layers, working all the way across.
  6. After sewing all the way across, weave in your ends securely.
  7. Flip your headband right-side out.
