This month for our Crochet Along, I am sharing my 2022 Warm Wishes Hat Pattern. This pretty crochet beanie is worked from the top-down in one piece.
We begin by crocheting the crown of the hat, which is worked in joined rounds. Then we begin working the pattern stitch section of the hat, which is worked in joined, turned rounds. The final 2 rounds of the hat are worked in joined rounds.
To make my Warm Wishes Hat you will need Medium Weight Yarn [4] and a 5.5 mm (I) crochet hook.

Special Stitches
Staggered Paired Half Double Crochet (sp-hdc)
- This stitch is worked in the ch-sps only. We skip every hdc2tog.
- We work the sp-hdc across 2 chain spaces.
- The sp-hdc is created by working the first leg of the hdc2tog st in the first ch-sp and the second leg of the hdc2tog in the next ch-sp.
- Each subsequent sp-hdc begins in the same ch-sp as the second leg of the previous sp-hdc.
Beg sp-hdc: hdc2tog over the first and second ch-sp.
sp-hdc: beg in the last ch-sp worked, hdc2tog over it and the next ch-sp

Notes:
- Stitch multiple: 2
- The increase-rounds are worked in joined half double crochet (hdc).
- The pattern stitch rounds are worked in joined, turned, staggered, paired half double crochet.
- I use a DMR (double magic ring) to begin my projects that are worked in the round. You may substitute a magic ring (magic circle), or a chain 3 and slip stitch to form a ring, if you prefer.
- The initial ch-2 does not count as a stitch and we do not work into it. This means you will still need to work a stitch into the stitch at the base of the ch-2.
- The slip stitch (sl st) does not count as a stitch and we do not work into it.
- Make your slip stitches (sl st) tightly.
