Hi Crochet Friends! Before I talk to you about this month’s #CALOFTHEMONTH theme (which is Toys!) I’d like to share my finished project photo for the July CAL:
My sister Kelley agreed to model it for me quickly before she took it home. I followed the measurements provided in the instructions and it fits her perfectly! For my own version I am going to need to play around a bit and make it a rectangle instead of a square I think – as I need more coverage around the body and less in the height section!
I hope you are having fun working on your Summer Hats! I’m hoping to start mine this week while I am having a small vacation with my family 🙂 If you haven’t started yet, no worries – we still have a few weeks to complete it. It is now time for us to choose which project we’d like to make in September! So take a look below at your options and then Vote for which one you’d prefer to make.
To cast your vote, use the widget at the end of this post. Click on the little heart ♥ in the upper right-hand corner of the photo of the project you want to make and that is all you need to do! The widget will tally all of the votes together and choose the project with the most votes.

If you are new to the Choose Your Own 2017 CAL Adventure, here is what it is about:
For our Crochet With Us CAL Group we have decided to do CALs a little bit differently this year. We have decided to go with the theme of “Choose Your Own 2017 CAL Adventure.”
We polled the CWU CAL group to ask you which types of projects you were most interested in and from your answers we are going to create 1 year of monthly CALs you can participate in. Each month we will give you 3 projects to choose from and you get to vote for your favorite. This will decide the pattern we will make for the month.
The voting will begin on 2nd Saturday of the month prior. You will have 1 week to vote for your favorite project. We will then announce the CAL project on the 3rd Saturday of the month. You will have about 1 week to gather the supplies you will need to make the project and will have the entire month to work on the project, create your project pages in Ravelry, and share your progress in the event created in the CWU CAL Facebook group.
Once the CAL begins we all work on our project at our own pace and then share and ask questions in our Group on Facebook. This way we can support one another if we get stuck!
September 2017 CAL Theme: Toys!
Please choose from one of these 3 options:
1. Sammy the Seal by Little Muggles
Yarn: Worsted/Medium Weight Yarn (used in design: Lion Brand Vanna’s Choice Solids & Twists)
Hook: 3.25 mm (D)
Finished Size: 6.5 inches tall and 6.5 inches wide (not including his hat)
Additional Items: Safety Eyes (12 mm) and Fiberfil for stuffing
2. Crochet Stripy Giraffe by I Love Buttons by Emma
Yarn: Worsted/Medium Weight Yarn (used in project image in collage: Red Heart Super Saver Solids)
Hook: 4 mm (G)
Finished Size: 19 inches tall by 12 inches wide (arms out)
Additional Items: Safety Eyes (12 mm) and Fiberfil for stuffing
Note: Emma’s Giraffe was crocheted in DK Weight Yarn with a 3 mm hook.
3. Ragdoll Lion by Spin a Yarn Crochet
Yarn: Worsted/Medium Weight Yarn (used in design: Vanna’s Choice Solids & Twists) and Cheeks (Lightweight cotton yarn) Black Crochet Thread (mouth)
Hook: 3.5 mm hook, 2.25 mm hook (toes and paw pads) and 4 mm hook (G) mane
Finished Size:
Additional Items: Safety Eyes (12 mm), Safety Nose (or crochet thread), Fiberfil for stuffing, Embroidery Thread

That way if your favorite project wasn’t selected to be worked on in the group you can still work on it at a later date! It could even become a future CAL project if there is interest!
