Welcome Back Crocheters!  The votes have been tallied and the August CAL will begin on August 5th! Find out what supplies you need below and join us back on August 5th so we can work together on our sunhats!

You can visit the Voting Post here: Vote for August’s #CALOFTHEMONTH2017 to see the votes which were cast and remember to favorite and queue the other 2 projects for later if you loved them too! For your convenience here are the 2 other projects you might wish to save for later:

Summer Joy Sunhat by Maria Bittner

Southern Comfort Summer Hat by Kathy Lashley

The project we voted to crochet for our August CAL is:

BEACH DAY SUNHAT BY JENNIFER PIONK

Yarn: 520 yards of Sport Weight Yarn
Suggested yarn:
 Premier Yarns Cotton Fair Solids
Hook: 3.25 mm (D)
Finished Sizes: One size
Supplies: Millinery Wire & Joiner

This is a free pattern on Jennifer’s blog and she has created a PDF version which is available for a nominal cost on Ravelry (if you prefer the PDF version). The hat was designed as part of our Mother’s Day CAL earlier this year. So if you have any leftover yarn when you are done your sunhat you may want to check out the other free patterns we designed using the same yarn.

The Premier Yarns Cotton Fair Yarns are available for purchase from Michael’s in Canada (that is where I picked mine up from) and Michael’s in the United States. So be sure to check for your coupons if you are heading to Michaels – you might be able to get it on sale! You can also purchase it directly from Premier’s website or even on Amazon 🙂 You will need 2 balls of the yarn to make the hat.

The Millinery Wire & Joiner is available for purchase in a few places online. I have purchased it directly from my friend Kathy in the past (ELK Studio). You might want to check out her shop here on Etsy: kathylashley

The direct links to the products in her shop are:

Joiner

If you are shopping in Canada you may also want to take a look at this shop which shows they will ship to Canada: LuluDeuxMillinery

Here are the direct links to the products in her shop:

Or I have ordered hat supplies from JudithM Millinery Supply House a few times and the shipping is pretty reasonable. You can check out her supplies here:

What You Need To Do To Get Ready:

1. Choose Your Yarn!

2. Create Your Project Page on Ravelry HERE

Choose Add to Favorites and Hook It! to set up your Project Page.

If you need help with this, here is a walk-through tutorial to show you how to add your Project on Ravelry. I thank you in advance for creating your project pages. It helps us keep track of the number of participants who complete their projects each month and it helps us decide which types of projects you enjoy (both for type and difficulty level!) for future Months.

3. If you need help with your CAL project, or you want to share your progress in a group setting; join us in the CWU CAL Group on Facebook!

See you back on August 5th for the Official Start Date of our

August #CALOFTHEMONTH2017 Project!
