Meet Christine from Sweet Potato 3

Hey everyone, my name is Christine Naugle, I am the designer at Sweet Potato 3. I have been designing crochet patterns since 2012. I create innovative crochet designs that hopefully you find new and interesting.

A stay at home is my first job, being Mom to 3 cute and busy kids keeps me on my toes. They help inspire some of my designs and I try to incorporate their color choices or ideas into some designs as well.

We live in a small mountain town, McCall, Idaho adn spend a lot of time outside enjoying nature. You can often find us white water rafting, biking, hiking, camping, kayaking, SUPing, downhill skiing or enjoying dinner on the back patio.

Having the opportunity to work from home with my crochet business and still be available to my family time is what I love most about what I do. I would love to have you follow me and my crochet journey at:

The Pattern

The Vintage Flip Cap is a unique design that speaks volume! The short styled cap sits just above the ears with a long bill that flips upwards.

This design came from a fan request. A Momma wanted a vintage hat for her little guys first birthday photos and sent me pictures she had found for inspiration. We worked together to come up with this design. The results where darling and after sharing the final photos, requests came pouring in for the design to be available in larger sizes.

A Flip Hat is full of character and charm and I am excited to offer it to you for free. Sizing from newborn to adult the pattern is worked as one piece and comes together quickly.

Notes:

  • The pattern is written for the smallest size with adjustments made in parenthesis for subsequent larger sizes. Example: sc in next 5 (6, 7) stitches would reference “sc in next child (youth, adult)
  • If no notation is made for multiple sizes then all size are worked the same for that round.
  • Do NOT count the beginning chain of the rounds.
  • The design of the hat is to rest just above the ears which is shorter than a traditional beanie that covers the ears.
  • The front brim is made much longer than most brims to help get that vintage “flip” look.
