The finished infinity scarf is super soft and cozy, it is the perfect scarf to snuggle into to escape from the cold winter air. This scarf is part of a crochet set; there is a matching Verna Puff Stitch Ear Warmer pattern too.

I wanted the Verna Puff Stitch Infinity Scarf to be long enough that I could wrap it multiple times around my neck.

I also chose to seam the 2 ends together to create an infinity scarf because I like to be able to go ‘hands free’ with my scarves; without worrying about them sliding off my winter coat.

You can easily leave the two row-ends free for a regular style scarf and then add fringe, or even tassels to your ends.

The Verna Puff Stitch Infinity Scarf Pattern is easy to crochet and easy to customize to other lengths. So, if you are looking for a shorter scarf you will simply crochet a multiple of 2, plus 4 chains for your foundation row. Then you will work the pattern for as many rows as you wish to create your Perfect Puff Stitch Scarf.

I hope you enjoy crocheting this new scarf design!

Notes:

  • Stitch multiple is 2 + 4
  • I work into the back bar of the starting chain row, this is the loop just behind and beneath the back loop. I find it provides more elasticity to the foundation row. You may work under whichever loop/loops you prefer.
  • The ch 3 at the beginning is a double crochet but for the purposes of making this easy-to-follow (and easier-to-write) we are going to refer to it as a ch3sp for the instructions.

The scarf is worked lengthwise in rows, before being seamed on the side-edges using a whip stitch.

Using your 6.5 mm (K) hook (or size required for gauge):

R1: Ch 250, 1 ps in the 4th ch from the hook (the sk 3 ch count as ch3sp). *Ch 1, sk 1 ch, 1 ps in the next ch**. Rep from * to ** across. Turn. [123 ps, 122 ch1sp, 1 ch3sp]

R2: Ch 3 (counts as ch3sp), sk the first ps, 1 ps in the ch1sp. *Ch 1, sk the next ps, 1 ps in the next ch1sp**. Rep from * to ** across to the last ps. Ch 1, sk the next ps, 1 ps in the ch3sp. [123 ps, 122 ch1sp, 1 ch3sp]

R3-R11: Ch 3 (counts as ch3sp), sk the first ps, 1 ps in the ch1sp. *Ch 1, sk the next ps, 1 ps in the next ch1sp**. Rep from * to ** across to the last ps. Ch 1, sk the next ps, 1 ps in the ch3sp. [123 ps, 122 ch1sp, 1 ch3sp]

Leave a 10-inch tail of yarn and finish off (Tip: I finish off by doing a ch-1 to create a ‘knot’).

Finishing Instructions:

Seam the two side edges together with a whipstitch seam. This will create an infinity scarf.

Or if you prefer to keep this as a scarf, you can add fringe to the ends.

Weave in any remaining ends.
