Title: Tunisian Crochet Today
Author: Sheryl Thies
Photographer: Brent Kane
Tunisian Crochet Today includes 8 different patterns for you to try:
- Place Mats & Coasters
- Purses and Totes
Do you see the elegant blanket (below)?
The one draped over the deck chair?
This blanket is called Essential Pleasure and I love it!
If I had to choose my favourite design in this collection, Essential Pleasure is definitely the one.
If you are looking for a great project – or even a house-warming gift – the Reversible Kickshaw Place Mats and Coasters would be ideal. The place mats measure 20″ x 14″ and the coasters measure 4″ x 4″.
If you are newer to Tunisian crochet you may want to start with one of these smaller sized projects – to become comfortable with the hook and stitches used.
Tunisian Crochet Today includes a fantastic section called Getting Started with Tunisian Crochet.
This section includes written instructions and diagrams to teach you the basic skills you need to complete these projects.
The next section of the publication outlines Techniques for an Attractive Finish – and includes blocking techniques.
The Triple Amusement handbag is great for carrying your essentials. The handbag when finished measures 11.5″ wide and 10″ deep (not including the handles).
You can also make the Go Green tote. This super durable tote is sturdy enough to carry library books! The tote when finished measures 13″ wide and 17.5″ long (not including the handles). To see an image of this please view the table of contents near the top of my post above.
This publication also includes 3 pillows you can make –
- Button Down this is a traditional envelope style pillow- and my favourite of the 3 pillows – I love the texture and diagonal lines of this design.
- Gourmet Popcorn with tweedy stripes and popcorns for texture and
- Ginger Roll – a lovely bolster pillow
