This hat was designed as part of the Chic Sheep by Marly Bird Exclusive Blog Tour. This tour started on August 6th and continues to the end of September. There are currently 12 exclusive free patterns available (you can get the links to all of them right >HERE<) and there will be even more available by the end of September! So remember to pop back to get those links too 🙂 Check out this great collection of free patterns you can make with 1-2 skeins of Chic Sheep Yarn Too! The yarn used to make these hats is the lovely Chic Sheep by Marly Bird which is available from Red Heart Yarn. It is absolutely amazing to work with and comes in bold and vibrant colors.
Note: I am quite sensitive to wool products so I was hesitant to try it last spring and happily surprised that I have no sensitivity to this wool.

Special Stitches
Popcorn Stitch (pc)
The popcorn stitch used in this pattern is made up of 5 dc stitches all crocheted into the same ch1sp. After you make the 5 dc stitches, remove the loop from the hook (see image below) and insert the hook through the top of the first dc stitch (under both the front and back loops of the stitch), from front to back (see image below). Reinsert your hook into the loop you removed (see image below). Draw that loop through the first dc stitch (already on your hook) to complete the popcorn stitch.

Notes
- Leave an 8-10-inch tail of yarn before you begin the band. You will use this tail of yarn to whipstitch the band closed after you finish the hat.
- Ch 3 counts as 1 dc when worked at the beg of the row.
- Join in the first st of the row with a standing dc stitch. If you prefer to use a sl st to join and ch-3 (which will count as 1 dc), please feel free to substitute.
- Sl st does not count as a stitch.
- To increase the slouch of the hat, add extra repeat sections (where we work 1 dc in each st around).
- Stitch Multiple: 3
- Color A: Linen, Color B: Polo and Color C: Mai Tai.

Finishing Instructions
Closing the top of the hat:
Weave the yarn end throughout the stitches in the final round, cinching it closed tightly before weaving in any remaining ends. For help with closing the hat please see my Closing Technique for Hats and Mittens Tutorial.
Using the yarn end you left at the beginning of the project, seam the hat band closed using a whipstitch technique. Weave in your ends.
Weave in all remaining ends. Try to weave in yarn ends of each color within its own color (so green in green, etc.). #redheartyarns #freepattern #crochet #Furls #joycreators
Happy crocheting!

Hi Rhondda. Love this hat. Also the link to Ravelry is for a scarf. I didn’t see the hat in your Ravelry.
