Meet Veronika from Blue Star Crochet

I’m Veronika, the crochet designer and blogger behind https://bluestarcrochet.com.

I was taught to crochet as a young girl by my mum who is a keen crocheter and knitter. I rediscovered crochet in my early twenties and began exploring different techniques. I have always enjoyed tweaking patterns or combining different elements from multiple patterns to create something I designed in my head.

When I was expecting my first son, I started making various items for him from blankets, toys and clothes. I made him a Tunisian crochet raglan cardigan which ended up being published in Inside Crochet Magazine. It was a steep learning curve which I thoroughly enjoyed and carried on working with other magazines and yarn companies.

Craving creative freedom and exploring my own style, I started my own blog in May 2020 where I share free patterns and tutorials for crocheters of all abilities. I mostly enjoy designing women’s garments and accessories with a few designs for the rest of the family.

You can find all my patterns and designs on my Ravelry page or in my Etsy shop

The Pattern

I am so excited to share my Trinity Summer Top with you today. This is a beautiful summer top which uses lacy shell stitches to create a light garment full of drape. I designed it across nine different sizes so everyone can make one. It has a very easy construction of two rectangles with a very simple shaping across the neckline. It is a great pattern if you have never made a garment before. I have also filmed a full video tutorial you can follow and make yourself something pretty to wear through the summer.

Notes

  • this top is worked as separate front and back panel
  • these are then sewn together at the shoulder seams and down the sides
  • the back panel is a simple rectangle shape with no shaping
  • the front panel is worked up to and then split for a neckline to right and left shoulder
  • with stitches left unworked in the middle
  • this creates the neckline
  • the neckline is then finished off with short rows of sc blo worked around the neck
  • opening at right angle to the main body
