The Crochet Sailboats Afghan

This month, Carol Hegar from Shady Lane Original Crochet Designs has given me a copy of her Crochet Sailboats Afghan to review and a second copy to giveaway to one of my readers! This electronic booklet includes 6 pages of easy to follow written instructions. A helpful chart is also provided for those who prefer working from charts.

The entire pattern uses single crochet stitches (sc) and single crochet bobble stitches (SB) worked in the back loop of a stitch and double crochet stitches (dc) worked in a remaining front loop of a stitch from 2 rows before. Diagrams and an explanation about how the pattern is worked are included on page 2 of the electronic booklet.

The pattern is worked on the RS (right side) only, and you will fasten-off the strand of yarn you are working with at the end of every row. The project is designed to allow you to create a fringe on the left and right side edges of the blanket. Overhand knots are used to finish the fringe on two edges of the blanket. BONUS: You will not have any ends to sew in!

By watching Carol’s helpful step-by-step video tutorial you will be able to master the dropped double crochet technique easily.

This 6-page ePattern is written in U.S. Crochet Terms and uses only simple crochet stitches. Instructions on how to read the pattern and how to recognize the loops of the stitches are all provided on page 2. Row by row written instructions for the afghan are included on pages 3 to 5, with the optional afghan graph on pages 6. You can work the pattern from either the written instructions, the graph, or a combination of both.
