 Terrific Totes Review

I have to admit this month’s review is completely my own personal pick! I have been wanting a closer look at Nicoletta Tronci’s Terrific Totes patterns for the past few months and I am happy to report – Terrific Totes is exactly what I was hoping it would be. I ♥ it!

Back in May 2013 I first became aware of NT Maglia when I saw her pattern Borsona Bellagio on Ravelry. Borsona Bellagio is a pattern for a sturdy, striped, extra large shopping bag. It is a free crochet pattern and absolutely stunning!

Terrific Totes includes 8 beautiful totes you can make. Each one is unique and designed to be used with reinforced handles and borders.

Choose from 8 Terrific Totes to Crochet - each design is unique and beautiful. Click to Tweet

Each of the designs was crocheted with a 4.5 mm crochet hook and using 100% cotton, medium weight yarn. The handles are reinforced using cotton rope and the borders are reinforced using corrugated plastic strips (which you can usually find at your local craft store in the baking supply department – they are also called “cake boards”).

General Instructions are provided at the end of the eBook and include written explanations and diagrams (where needed). You will find the following:

  • gauge
  • joining with sc
  • joining with dc
  • joining with front post sc
  • back ridge
  • free loops of a chain
  • working in a space before a stitch
  • post stitch
  • cross stitch
  • reverse single crochet
  • surface slip stitch

Everything you need is included and throughout the publication you will see the camera icon for technique videos too!

My favorite designs include: Sunny Days Tote, Twill Weave Tote and Sublime Stripes Shoulder Bag. I also love the Caffe Latte Tote and I am fascinated by how it is made.

These are nice totes. I have made a couple bags, but not ‘purse’ bags/totes. Kind of the same difference, right?

Oh my goodness! To choose! I have several (many) in my wish list! To cut it down, Everyday Shawls #75515C, One-Skein (or less!) Projects #75495C, Hat & Handwarmers for the Family #75488C, or Filet Afghans #5584C. These are my interests and also some quick projects to get done for gifts, etc. I will probably have the Filet Afghans purchased by then, but it is a skill that so many see as difficult… And since you are such an awesome crochet teacher & ambassador… 😀 Thanks for your generosity, with the giveaways, yes, but more for your diligent willingness to share your skills to help others better theirs!!
