Sweet Teddy Bear Afghan Pattern

This month, Carol Hegar from Shady Lane Original Crochet Designs has given us a copy of her Sweet Teddy Bear Afghan ePattern to review and a second copy to giveaway to one of my lucky readers!

This 8-page ePattern includes crochet instructions to make both a baby and a child size afghan. The baby size afghan is crocheted with Baby (Sport) Weight Yarn [2] and the child size afghan is crocheted with Medium (Worsted) Weight Yarn [4].

These afghans are crocheted using simple stitches: single crochet (sc), double crochet (dc), sc bobble stitches and dc bobble stitches. You will find the full abbreviations list on page 2. The instructions on how to make the bobble stitches are included on page 4, in the Special Stitches section of the pattern.

This one-of-a-kind design is created with just single and double crochet stitches. The teddy bear design is created by crocheting dc stitches into the remaining front loop of a stitch made 2 rows before. The background of the design is created by working single crochet stitches in the back loop only. The entire project is worked on one side only. You do not turn your work. It is super easy-to-do and the finished afghans look fantastic! To learn how to do the easy dropped dc method, Carol has prepared a helpful video tutorial here.

• Baby Afghan | 16 oz of Baby (Sport) Weight Yarn [2] | 3.5 mm (E) hook | Size: 35.5 inches X 35.5 inches in size
• Child Afghan | 45 oz of Medium (Worsted) Weight Yarn [4] | 5.5 mm (I) hook | Size: 46 inches X 46 inches in size

The ePattern includes both written instructions (in U.S. Crochet Terms) and an optional graph for the afghan.
