Today it is my turn to share a free crochet pattern featuring Red Heart Yarns – and I am pleased to present to you:
Super Sweet 2 Hour Super Scarf
This scarf is designed using one of the softest yarns I have ever crocheted with – it is soft, squishy and super snuggly. The only hiccup to crocheting with this yarn is the tendency for the yarn end to lose it’s fluffy outer coating to reveal the fiber on the inside.
Since I totally love how soft this yarn is, I was determined to figure out how I could control its tendency to ‘fluff’. I decided to try my handy fabric glue and I am pleased to report – it does the trick!
For the finished project you see in this post I prepared each yarn end as I show below. It does make the ends a bit stiffer but it totally controls all the ‘fluff’ and makes it a cinch to weave in your ends (if you choose to weave them in instead of making the little bead-like knots on the ends).
You have a couple options when making your Super Sweet 2 Hour Super Scarf. You can
- prepare your yarn as I did and create the little bead-like knots
- prepare the yarn ends and then weave them in securely. You can even trim most of stiff fabric glue end off after you have woven the ends in 🙂
- if you have any of the large wooden beads around your house (I couldn’t find mine!) – you can thread one bead on each of the prepared yarn-ends before tieing a knot – it will add a bit of fun to your Super Scarf. Just be cautious of throwing your scarf end over your shoulder if you add beads!
- you can try working with the yarn without preparing the yarn ends and just clean up afterwards if it fluffs 🙂
Even with the time it took to prepare the yarn ends (maybe 10 minutes in total?) this scarf takes just over 90 minutes to create from start to finish 🙂 It is totally worth the effort! You are going to love how soft and sweet it feels AND how quickly you will be able to complete this project!

Notes
- PrintFriendly Button is located at the end of the post!
- Make this in any size! Chain an even number of stitches plus 4. Continue to work your project until you reach the length you wish, ending after an odd row (after completing a dc row). This will make a beautiful wrap!!
- You may wish to prepare your yarn as follows at the beginning and ending of every row to control the yarn fray which may occur. P.S. the fabric glue dries clear 🙂
Pattern Instructions
Here is a close-up of the stitches:
R1: Ch 104, 1 dc in 5th ch from hook (sk 4 chs count as 1 dc and 1 ch). *Ch 1, sk 1 st, 1 dc in the next st**. Rep from * to ** across. Finish off leaving a 10-inch tail of yarn. [51 dc, 50 ch1sp]
R2: Turn. Leaving a 10-inch tail of yarn, join Color B with a sc in the first dc. 1 sc in the first ch1sp. *Ch 1, sk 1 st, 1 sc in the next ch1sp**. Rep from * to ** across. 1 sc in the last dc of the row. Finish off leaving a 10 inch tail of yarn. [52 sc, 49 ch1sp]
R3: Turn. Leaving a 10-inch tail of yarn, join Color A with a dc in the first dc. *Ch 1, sk 1 st, 1 dc in the next ch1sp**. Rep from * to ** across. Ch 1, 1 dc in the last sc. Finish off leaving a 10-inch tail of yarn. [51 dc, 50 ch1sp]
R4: Turn. Leaving a 10 inch tail of yarn, join Color C with a sc in the first dc. 1 sc in the first ch1sp. *Ch 1, sk 1 st, 1 sc in the next ch1sp**. Rep from * to ** across. 1 sc in the last dc of the row. Finish off leaving a 10-inch tail of yarn. [52 sc, 49 ch1sp]
R5: Turn.
R6: Turn.
R7: Turn.
Now take your super scarf and find the one corner edge where you are missing 2 pieces of fringe in Color A. You will need to cut a length of yarn (I cut 20 inches) and tie it to this bottom corner edge to balance the fringe on both ends. Prepare your yarn ends for the fringe as shown below. Once they are dry tie them to the corner where the fringe is missing.
