Summer Slouch Hat Pattern

Here’s how it works.
My Summer Slouch Hat Pattern is available in sizes toddler to adult large. This crocheted hat is made from the bottom-up, in one piece, with DK Weight Yarn [3]. This warm weather hat is perfect for holding your hair in place during the warmer weather.
To make my Summer Slouch Hat you will need Light Weight Yarn [3] and both a 4 mm (G) crochet hook (for the hat band/brim) and a 5 mm (H) crochet hook for the hat body.
My Summer Slouch Hat Pattern is available in sizes Toddler, small child (3-5 years), child (6-10 years), teen/adult (small), adult (medium) and adult (large).
If you’d like a longer slouch for your hat it is very easy to do! Just work the repeat section on extra two times to increase the hat height by one inch. To make it a shorter slouch hat, decrease the repeat section by 2 rounds for each inch of height you’d like to remove.

Disclaimer: The yarn used to create this project was given to me by King Cole.
The Yarn I used
For my Summer Slouch Hat I used 1.93 oz (55 g) and 139 yds (127 m) of DK Weight Yarn.
King Cole Bamboo Cotton DK is amazingly soft and easy to work with. This finished hat is lightweight and very comfortable to wear. There is a smoothness and a soft lustre to this yarn that gives it a luxurious look and feel.
King Cole yarn is available from your local yarn shop, or online at the links in my post below.
King Cole Bamboo Cotton DK is a blend of 50% Bamboo and 50% Cotton. Bamboo Cotton DK is available in a pretty range of solid colors. To see the 34 shades available in Bamboo Cotton DK, visit this link.

Finished Size
This is a slouch hat. To make your hat more slouchy, increase the repeat rounds until you have a desired hat height.
The circumference listed is the hat body size. The hat band will be shorter but it will stretch to the size needed for the circumference because it is worked in a rib stitch.
- Toddler Hat (1-2 years) height 7.5 inches X 17 inches circumference
- Small Child Hat (3-5 years) height 8 inches X 18 inches circumference
- Child Hat (6-10 years) height 9 inches X 19 inches circumference
- Teen/Adult Hat height 10 inches X 20 inches circumference
- Adult Hat (Medium) height 11 inches X 21 inches circumference
- Adult Hat (Large) height 12 inches X 22 inches circumference
Gauge
- Hat Band: Approximately 6 sc in 1 inch and 5 rows per 1 inch
- Hat Body: Approximately *18 sts per 4 inches and 8 rows per 4 inches.
*18 sts = (1 dc, ch 1) 9 times
You can substitute any yarn and hook for this stitch pattern – just remember when you substitute if your gauge is different, the finished size, and amount of yarn used for your project will also be different.
