- Each snow ball is worked separately and then hand stitched together to form your snowman.
- We begin at the top (head) and work to the bottom. Then add the hat and scarf and facial features.

Carrot Nose
- Carrot nose – unwind the 4-ply yarn and use 2 of the strands only and sew the nose on by hand. Or alternately use orange embroidery thread to hand stitch the nose shape on the snowman. Another idea – which I have heard work is using puffy paint from Tulip to paint on the fabric nose. I have it on my list to purchase to try on a project in the future!
Eyes (2)
- Using black sewing thread, hand sew the 2 beads as eyes on your snowman. Alternately you could do this with the embroidery thread OR black puffy paint from Tulip!
Mouth
- We use little stones to make the mouth on our snowmen here – so my children insisted I add some to our Snowman. I simply used the same black sewing thread to sew tiny black dots in a smile on my snowman. You can omit these if you wish – not all snowmen have smiles 😉
Assembly
- Using the extra yarn from the final snowball (bottom) on a yarn needle, weave your yarn needle through the center hole (at the very bottom) and through the inside of the ball, straight up to the top center hole (now you have a ball hanging on a string).
- Now find the belly snowball and thread the yarn needle through the bottom hole (created when you cinched the last round closed) and thread the yarn straight through the inside and up to the center hole on the top of the belly snowball (now you have 2 balls on top of each other on a string.
- Do the very same process for your top snowball (head) and then weave your yarn through some of the stitches to secure it to the top of the head.
- Do not cut the yarn because you can actually use this to hang him on the tree if you do not want to use ribbon or a different color of yarn.
- Our snowman is using the yarn from the bottom snowball to hang from the three.
- I simply threaded it through the hat as I assembled the hat on his head 😉 Once his hat was completely sewn I threaded the yarn back into the hat and pulled it through the side piece; removed my yarn needle and tied a double knot. Then I pulled that knot back inside his hat. Easy peasy! Alternately you can add a super pretty piece of ribbon the same way!
