Hook: 6.0 mm
Stitch Pattern Multiple: work any number of ch sts
Finished Dimensions: 8″ x 8″ Square

Abbreviations: RS – right side, sl st – slip stitch, ch – chain, beg – begin, sc – single crochet, fl – front loop, bl – back loop

Note: this stitch pattern shrinks considerably! I chained 10 inches and the finished square before the edging is 7″ square. It actually shrank 3″ in width. Please take this into consideration when working the square. If you think it is going to be too big please wait until you have completed at least 5 rows to be sure.

Gauge: 12 sl st = 3″

R1: (RS): ch 31, beg in the 2nd ch from your hook and work 1 sl st in each ch across, ch 1, turn (30)

Repeat R2 and R3: 18 times

You are finished the repeats after you complete R39. Do not finish off. Proceed to edging below.

Edging:

Work 1 sc in the corner, turn to work along the side edge. Work 30 sc evenly along the side edge.

Work 1 sc in the corner, turn to work along the starting row edge. Work 30 sc evenly across.

Work 1 sc in the corner, turn to work along the side edge. Work 30 sc evenly along the side edge.

Work 1 sc in the corner, turn to work along the top edge. Work 1 sc in the fl of each st across.

Finish off and weave in ends.
