Simply Irresistible Crochet Flower Pattern

I had many requests for the flower pattern I used to embellish the Half Double Crochet Earflap hat I shared with you last week.

Here it is 🙂

Simply Irresistible Pattern Instructions

Supplies:

4.50 mm crochet hook
Red Heart Soft Yarn & Caron Simply Soft were used.
Yarn needle, scissors, stitch marker

Abbreviations:
ch = chain, sc = single crochet, hdc = half double crochet, dc = double crochet, fl – front loop, bl – back loop, fsc – foundation single crochet, x = times to repeat, sl st = slip stitch, F/O = finish off,

Base Flower (Flower #1):

R1: 8 hdc in a magic ring (8)
R2: 2 sc in each st around (16)
R3: (1 sc in the first st, skip the next st, chain 1) repeat 8x (8 sc and 8 chain-1 spaces)
R4: [Skip the first stitch, work (1sc, 2dc, 2tr, 2dc, 1sc) in the chain-1 space] repeat 8x, sl st to the 1sc worked in the round, F/O and weave in ends

In a different colour

Top Flower (Flower #2):

R1: 8sc in magic ring (8)
R2: *[sl st into the fl of the first st, ch 2, beginning in 2nd ch from hook (see photo a & b below) crochet 5 fsc stitches, sl st to the bl of the first st]* 1 petal made. Repeat from * to * to make 7 more petals (8 petals)
R3: For this round you will be working in between each petal from the round before – into the center of the petal. (see photo c& d below). Fold the petal backwards to make it easier! Work the following in between each petal from the previous round: (1 sc, ch2, beginning in the 2nd chain from the hook crochet 3 fsc. 1 sc in the same place you worked the first sc). Finish off and leave a long tail for assembly.

Place the top flower on the base flower and join them together with your yarn tail and yarn needle. Or you can use them separately as 2 different flower embellishments – have fun!
