The Yarn

For this month’s Dishcloth of the Month Club project I used approximately 76 yards (70 meters) of Paintbox Yarns, Cotton Aran yarn. This yarn is 100% cotton. Each 50 g ball contains approximately 93 yards (85 meters).

This pretty cotton yarn creates durable dishcloths that hold up beautifully to countless cleaning tasks!

Check out all the pretty colors this yarn line includes here. I chose Raspberry Pink (Color 644) for my textured dishcloth this month.

Notes:

  • Stitch multiple: 3+2
  • Initial ch 1 does not count as a stitch.
  • Initial ch 3 counts as 1 dc.
  • When I work into the foundation chain, I prefer working into the back bar (back bump) of the chain. Feel free to work in the back loop instead if you prefer.
  • To make this dishcloth longer, work more repeat rows by repeating R2 and R3.
  • To make this dishcloth wider, chain more stitches using the stitch multiple.

Dishcloth Edging

The edging is worked in rows around the outside of the dishcloth.

Note: The hdc stitches are worked around the entire post of the row end stitch. This mimics the look of the ch2sp we have at the top and bottom edge of the dishcloth.

Using your 4 mm (G) crochet hook (or size required for gauge):

Rnd 1: Sl st in first st, *2 hdc in ch2sp, 1 sl st in next st**. Work from * to ** across to the corner.

Rotate your work, sl st in first row end. *2 hdc in next row end, sl st in next row end**. Work from * to ** across to the corner.

Rotate your work, sl st in the first st. *2 hdc in ch2sp (made when we skipped 2 chains in R1), sl st in the next st**. Work from * to ** across to the corner.

Rotate your work, sl st in the first row end. *2 hdc in next row end, sl st in next row end**. Work from * to ** across to the corner.

Proceed to finishing instructions.

Finishing Instructions:
