Just in case you want to see the seam on the back of the hat – here is the seam line on the color change hat.

Double Crochet Slouch Hat Color Changes: To make effective color changes work the last yarn over, of the last double crochet stitch of the round in the new color and then continue on with the new color. If you are alternating only a few colors like I have, or changing colors every other round you can even carry the yarn up the inside of the hat – just be sure you give it some extra ‘slack’ (or extra length) because you want it to be able to stretch with the hat.

A final note: For hats I make for my family and immediate friends I carry my yarn up – for hats I wish to sell I finish off and weave in for every single color change as it makes for a more visually pleasing and professional look.
