Two-in-One Reversible Hat Pattern: Serene Reflections Hat
Disclaimer: The yarn used for this project was given to me by King Cole Yarns. If you’d like to try their yarns you can find your local King Cole Yarn Stockist here. Find all my free crochet patterns designed using King Cole Yarn here.
The Yarn
For this month’s Crochet Club Patterns, I used Fashion Aran by King Cole Yarns. This wool and acrylic blend comes in 41 shades and works beautifully with crochet hooks, gliding smoothly without fluffing or pilling.
The Pearl Shade 310 I picked has a subtle opalescence, giving my finished scarf and hat set a lovely soft sheen that catches the light.
King Cole’s latest yarn offering, whether you’re crafting a cosy blanket, a stylish scarf, or a chic sweater, our new yarn ensures every stitch is a delight.King Cole

Helpful Tutorial
How to Crochet the Embossed V-Stitch
- Work around the center hdc.
- Yarn over, insert hook around the post of the stitch, from the front, to the back and to the front. Yarn over your hook.
- Pull up 1 loop. You now have 3 loops on your hook.
- Yarn over and pull through all 3 loops to complete the first FPhdc.
- Chain 1.
- Yarn over, insert hook around the post of the same stitch, from the front, to the back and to the front. Yarn over your hook.
- Pull up 1 loop. Yarn over.
- Pull through all 3 loops on your hook to complete the second FPhdc.
Notes:
- Stitch multiple is 2 rows of the hat band.
- Turning ch 2 is not counted as a stitch for the hat band. We work a hdc in the same stitch where there is a ch 2 for the hat band.
- Initial ch 2 counts as 1 hdc for the main hat.
- Sl st to join in the first st of the round unless otherwise written.
- When I work into the foundation chain, I prefer working into the back bar (back bump) of the chain. You can work under the back loop only if you prefer.
- To increase the hat height, work more rounds.
- TIP: If you have made the scarf and you would like the hat to match both sides of the scarf exactly, TURN after every round of the main hat pattern. This will give you the exact same look as the scarf on both sides.

Finishing Instructions:
- Finish off leaving a 8 to 10 inch tail of yarn.
- Close the top of the hat by weaving your yarn end through the front loop of the FPhdc stitches and cinching the top closed. See this tutorial for help.
- If there is still a gap at the top, don’t worry! Turn the hat inside out and close the gap by making a stitch from the left side of the gap to the right side (pull to tighten) then from the top of the gap to the bottom (pull to tighten).
- Weave in ends.
