Today I’d like to share with you a new book from DK. I recently had the opportunity to pick 3 books from DK to add to our home library and I chose these two:

and I chose My Book of Rocks and Minerals.

Rocks and Minerals DKTitle: My Book of Rocks and Minerals
Published By: Dorling Kindersley, 2017
ISBN:  9781465461902
Pages:
96

There are a number of reasons why I picked this book – firstly, because both my children love rocks and have loved them from the very first moment and secondly because both my Mom and Dad were in the Geology Program at Brock University (when I was born) and as a result, I love rocks too! I remember many times when I was growing up being with my Mom at the University while she analyzed samples from Dr. Terasmae under a microscope. I also remember when my Dad took me on adventures where we went fossil hunting in old quarries. I totally loved fossil hunting and to this day when I find a rock with fossils in it I get excited!

My daughter Darla has a keen interest in fossils, rocks and minerals and this book is one I selected specifically for her. I had to go searching for it today to write my review because as soon as she saw it, it vanished from my desk and into her room. She has bookmarked (with slips of paper) the pages in the book which include information about Amethysts. She recently picked up a small piece of amethyst and is interested in learning more about it.
