Rainbow String Flower Necklace
A very easy to make cute necklace.
Rainbow String Flower Necklace
Skill Level:
Easy
Materials:
- Small amounts of light worsted yarn (No 3) in various colors – I used, green, pink, cream, purple, aqua, yellow and dark pink
- Size 3.00 mm
- Yarn Needle
- Small button
Abbreviations:
SC – single crochet
CH – chain
SL ST – slip stitch
Gauge: Tension/Gauge is not necessary for this project to be perfect
Finished Size:
Fits my preschool daughter. If hooked with a 3, 50 or 4, 00 mm hook can fit an adult.
Notes:
Neck strings can be made to any length to fit!
This is a fun project to experiment with – different yarns and size hooks!
Neck Strings:
Make 4 – 6 strings – depending on yarn. I made 5.
STEP 1 & 2:
String One: CH 90 (I made 2)
String Two: CH 100 (I made 2)
String Three: CH 110
Pattern: Work 1 SC into 6th CH from hook, work 1 SC into each CH until end, CH 5, SL ST into bottom of last SC worked.
Fasten off and weave in ends.
Repeat pattern for all the strings; work the strings in different colors.
STEP 3:
Knot new yarn onto hook, insert hook through the 5 CH loop on all the strings – see photo above
STEP 4:
Work 6 SC into loops.
STEP 5:
Fasten off and weave in ends.
STEP 6:
Repeat STEP 3
STEP 7:
Repeat STEP 4
STEP 8:
CH 6, SL ST into first SC made, fasten off and weave in ends.
Flower:
STEP 1:
Make a magic ring and work 12 DC into ring, SL ST into top of 3 CH, fasten off and weave in ends.
(CH 3 [counts as 1 DC], work 11 DC into ring)
STEP 2:
Working into front loops only;
Join new yarn; CH 3, work 2 DC into same loop, CH 3, SL ST into same loop.
*SL ST into next loop; work [3 CH, 2 DC, 3 CH] into next loop, SL ST into same loop.
Repeat from * 4 more times (6 petals made), SL ST into the back loop of the first loop worked in
STEP 3:
CH 4, SKIP back loop behind first petal, SL ST into next back loop.
*CH 4, SKIP back loop behind next petal, SL ST into next back loop.
Repeat from * 4 more times, 6 x 4CH loops. SL ST into first loop worked in.
Fasten off and weave in ends.
STEP 4:
Join new yarn into any 4 CH loop; CH 3, work [1 DC, 2 TR, 1 DC] into same loop, CH 3, SL ST into same loop.
*SL ST into next loop; CH 3, work [1 DC, 2 TR, 1 DC] into loop, SL ST into same loop.
Repeat from * 4 more times (6 petals made), SL ST into the back loop of the first loop worked in.
STEP 5:
*CH 5, SL ST into the loop between the petals.
Repeat from * 5 more times, 6 x 5CH loops. SL ST into first loop worked in.
Fasten off and weave in ends.
STEP 6:
What it looks at the back
STEP 7:
Join new yarn into any 5 CH loop; CH 3, work [2 DC, 2 TR, 2 DC] into same loop, CH 3, SL ST into same loop.
*SL ST into next loop; CH 3, work [2 DC, 2 TR, 2DC] into loop, SL ST into same loop.
Repeat from * 4 more times (6 petals made), SL ST into the back loop of the first loop worked in.
Fasten off and weave in ends.
Sew the flower onto the neck string end without the 6 CH loop.
Sew button onto the back of the flower over the neck string end.
