Here’s how it works.
Welcome back! It’s the first Tuesday of the month and you all know what that means! It’s time for our Monthly Leisure Arts eBook Review and Giveaway! This month I have chosen an eBook for projects we can make in any season. A great decorative element you can use in your home, at the cottage or even as gifts to friends and family. Poufs & Pillows includes 8 fantastic and easy projects to make from Designer Ashley Leither. You can visit Ashley on her website Ashley Designs Corner and be sure to check out The Lizzie Bear Project while you are there. Ashley is also on Facebook.
My favorite project in the book is Triangles Floor Pillow – and there is also a matching Triangles Pillow (square) to go with it. My children often sit on the floor so this would be the perfect choice for our house!
I also love how Ashley has included information about different pouf stuffing options – including recycling and reusing old towels, blankets and pillows and then wrapping them and sewing them to shape for each project.

Here’s a little look at each of the projects you can make:
The yarns used in the samples are Super Bulky [6] or Jumbo Weight Yarn [7].
Yarns used include:
- Lion Brand® Wool-Ease® Thick & Quick®
- Lion Brand® Hometown USA®
- Lion Brand® Color Clouds®
To find out the exact yarns used in the projects please see the Yarn Information page, on page 24.
Each written pattern includes a helpful Shopping List outlining the supplies you need (including the number of balls of yarn) and the optional supplies like stuffing to fill the pillow (if you are not recycling items from your linen closet). Gauge information is provided to ensure you reach the same size pillow as the project you have chosen. This is especially important if you are purchasing pillow forms to fill your pillows- you will need to reach gauge to make your pillow form fit.
Stitch Guide
A very helpful Stitch Guide is provided within each pattern to help you make your project. I prefer this because then I do not have to flip back and forth, between the appendix and the pattern, to find stitches being used if I am unfamiliar with them. Abbreviations being used are standard US Crochet Terminology and can be referenced in the chart included on page 20.
Crochet Terminology
Other terms included in the General Instructions are:
- Markers
- Joining with a SC
- Free Loops of a Chain (includes diagram)
- Post Stitch (includes diagram)
- Foundation Double Crochet (includes diagram)
- Whipstitch (includes diagram)
- Pouf Stuffing Options

These are really nice and would be useful. I like the Columns Pillow and Columns Pouf best with the Post Stitch Pillow and Post Stitch Pouf coming in a close second. But I’ve always wondered how the poufs would maintain their shape, especially the Columns Pouf.
Love all of these poufs and pillows. I will have to try one day.
Hi Cheryl 🙂 This is a very good point 🙂 I think if you do have animals you may want to use a zipper as the closure so you can remove the case and wash it when you need to. This would allow you to wash the outer cover and the items you choose to stuff it with (if you were not using polyfil or bean bag filler that is!). Hope this helps 🙂 Rhondda
I do have to ask, how on earth would you wash such a large item? I have a dog and she would be all over these..
this seems to be a well rounded book, and some neat patterns! sorry I missed the giveaway.
One of my next projects will be from this book! Can’t wait!
Looks like a great book! Love pillows of all kinds.
I have been wanting to make pillows for a while, that floor one in particular looks fantastic! I think I may need the book.
Beautiful! Lovely additions to any home.
I definitely plan on buying this book.
I always think these poofs are amazing! I need to make one.
Love the Pouf!!! Would love having a few in our Family Room!!! Going to check it out! 🙂
I love the looks of these pillows, and the stuffing options will be great, my pillows always end up lumpy!
this looks like a really fun book! it looks like some of the projects would work up quick even though they are large because of the size of yarn you are using
Thanks for this opportunity to win this book! I would like to see the Plus-size book in a giveaway.
😍Gorgeous projects for the home!😍
Love your blog! Important, too, the poufs and pillows giveaway is fun. I would love to win. Thank you for your creativity.

Cool review – thanks! I would love to make a poof for the den someday – good to know these patterns are easy! I would love a review of Leisure Arts’ Animal Amigurumi Crochet – those animals are SO CUTE! I especially love the elephant. Thanks so much for the chance to win a copy!
I would love to read a review of Cabled Baby Blankets, not necessarily for baby, but just cabled blankets in general.
