Phoenix Afghan and Pillow Pattern Set
This month, Carol Hegar from Shady Lane Original Crochet Designs has given me a copy of her Phoenix Afghan and Pillow Pattern Set to review and a second copy to giveaway to one of my readers! This electronic booklet is Volume 2 of her Native American Series.
This textured afghan and pillow features Native American geometric designs.
The entire pattern uses single crochet stitches (sc) worked in the back loop of a stitch and double crochet stitches (dc) worked in a remaining front loop of a stitch from 2 rows before. Diagrams and an explanation about how the pattern is worked are included on page 2 of the electronic booklet.
The pattern is worked on the RS (right side) only, and you will finish-off the strand of yarn you are working with at the end of every row. The project is designed to allow you to create a fringe on the left and right side edges of the blanket. BONUS: You will not have any ends to sew in!
By watching Carol’s helpful step-by-step video tutorial you will be able to master the dropped double crochet technique easily.
This 13-page ePattern is written in U.S. Crochet Terms and uses only simple crochet stitches. Instructions on how to read the pattern and how to recognize the loops of the stitches are included on page 2. Row by row written instructions are included from page 3 to page 7 and the optional Pillow and Afghan Graphs (for those who prefer following graphs) are included from page 8 to 13.
The border on two sides of the blanket is created by overhand knots that are tied which means you have no ends to sew in! When making the pillow the ends are hidden inside the completed pillow.
