Supplies

  • Yarn: Furls Wander Acrylic Yarn. (affiliate link) 3.5 oz (100 g) and 120 yds (109 m).100% Acrylic. Medium Weight Yarn [4]. Machine wash cold water, normal cycle. Do not tumble dry. Do not bleach. Low iron.
  • Colors: 1 skein in Wintermint, Tundra or Agave.
  • Hook: 5 mm (H) Furls Gold Streamline Metal (affiliate link)
  • Finished Project: Toddler: 1.1 oz (32 g) and 38 yds (35 m)  Child: 1.8 oz (52 g) and 62 yds (57 m) Adult Medium: 2.2 oz (63 g) and 76 yds (69 m)
  • Scissors, Yarn Needle, Stitch Marker, Acacia Hook tray

  • These ear warmers will stretch 4 to 5 inches in circumference.

Notes:

  • Stitch multiple: 2 (Understanding Stitch Multiples)
  • To increase the length of the earwarmer, increase the number of rows worked. For every 3 rows you increase you will add approximately 1-inch in length.
  • To increase the width of the headband, work more chain stitches using the stitch multiple. For every 4 extra chain stitches you will add approximately 1 inch of width.
  • The stitches are worked over the chain spaces and stitches of each row. They will be referred to as ‘stitches’.

Using your 5 mm (H) crochet hook (or size required for gauge):

Finishing Instructions

  • Finish off your yarn leaving approximately a 9 inch tail for seaming.
  • Fold your finished band in half widthwise, bringing the foundation row edge (R1) and the final row edge for your chosen size together. 
  • Thread your yarn-end on a yarn needle and whipstitch to the 2 edges together neatly. 
  • Weave in your ends securely.
