Oceania Cowl

Oceania Cowl Free Pattern Oombawka Design Scarfofthemonthclub2017 1

You will need a 5 mm (H) crochet hook and 1 ball of Lion Brand Yarns Mandala Yarn for this project. The Oceania Cowl is lightweight, super soft and a pleasure to wear. It is wide enough to easily pull up to cover the top of your head and the back of your neck (snood style) at the same time for those windy weather moments and it is pliable enough to wear around your neck under your chin. The fabric has lovely movement which allows it to be worn comfortably without having a lot of excess material around your neck. This cowl will look great on its own with your fall sweaters, or with your winter jacket as a traditional cold weather cowl.

 Supplies

  • Yarn: Lion Brand Yarns Mandala Yarn; Color: Spirit; 5.3 oz / 150 g; 590 yd / 540 m. 100% Acrylic Yarn. Machine Washable and dryable. Light [3] Yarn.
  • Hook: 5 mm Clover Amour
  • Yarn Use: 590 yds
  • Scissors, Yarn Needle, Stitch Marker (optional)

Difficulty Level

ADVANCED BEGINNER – simple stitches are used – you will need to keep the space between the sc and the next dc consistent throughout the entire project to maintain your gauge

Finished Size

27 inches long by 16 inches wide

Gauge

2 rows per inch and 0.8 stitch sets per inch (approximately 3 sets in 2.5 inches)

You can substitute any yarn and hook for this stitch pattern – just remember when you substitute if your gauge is different, the finished size of your project will also be different.
