Mya’s Little Black Hat Pattern
Yarn: Bernat Handicrafter Cotton Yarn
Hook: 5.0 mm
To fit: 3 months (hat circumference approximately 14″ to fit up to 16″ head size)
Finished Height: approximately 6.0 inches (to cover the ears) NOTE: If you want this to reach mid-ear stop after R15 and work 1 round of bl sc around to finish.
Abbreviations: R- round, sc – single crochet, st – stitch, cluster – see special stitches below, sts – stitches, bl sc – back loop single crochet (i.e. single crochet in the bl only of the stitch), magic ring – also known as an adjustable ring, or adjustable loop
Special Stitches:
Cluster: (yarn over hook, insert hook into the specified stitch, yarn over and pull up a loop) twice, yarn over and pull through all 5 loops on the hook
R1: 6 sc in magic ring [6]
R2: 2 sc in each st around [12]
R3: (2 sc in the first st, 1 cluster in the next st) 6 times [18]
R4: (2 sc in the first st, 1 cluster in the next st, 1 sc in the next st) 6 times [24]
R5: (2 sc in the first st, 1 cluster in the next st, 1 sc in each of the next 2 sts) 6 times [30]
R6: (2 sc in the first st, 1 cluster in the next st, 1 sc in each of the next 3 sts ) 6 times [36]
R7: (2 sc in the first st, 1 cluster in the next st, 1 sc in the next st, 1 cluster in the next st, 1 sc in the next st, 1 cluster in the next st) 6 times [42]
