Here’s how it works.
I think this has to be my favorite bracelet pattern!
Why you ask?
- it is worked lengthwise which means you can make it any length you want easily without counting out a starting chain and hoping it finishes at the length you want
- it works up very quickly (maybe 15 minutes if you have never tried the stitch before)
- it produces a slightly stretchy bracelet so you can easily stretch it over your hand to wear on your wrist
- I love how it zigzags on the top and bottom edges
- I love the texture in the stitch
- it is super EASY to crochet
- and honestly I think it is so pretty!
Do you want to try it too? Here is my free crochet pattern:
My Favorite Bracelet Pattern
Thread: Aunt Lydia’s Crochet Thread, Fashion 3 (Super Fine 1)
Hook: 2.25 mm (B)
Abbreviations: ch – chain, ch2sp – chain 2 space, shell – shell (see special stitch below), sc – single crochet, R- row, RS – right side (i.e. this is the ‘pretty side’)
Special Stitch: Shell (shell) – work (1 sc, ch 2, 1 sc) into the space indicated
Helpful Tutorials:
R1: (RS): ch 3, work 1 shell (see special stitch above) in the 3rd ch from the hook, turn
R2: ch 2, work 1 shell in the ch2sp of the previous shell, turn
Repeat R2 until you reach the length you want for your bracelet. Finish off with an invisible join and then whip stitch the two ends together to form a bracelet. Weave in your ends.
Or if you prefer, you can certainly add metal clasps to the bracelet to open and close it.
I made my bracelet 8″ long. The measurements I searched for online recommend anywhere from 7.5″ to 8.5″ for women for cuff style bracelets (Small 7.5″ – Medium 8 ” – Large 8.5″).
To find out how large to make yours measure the distance around the widest part of your hand – with the thumb held close to the palm. This is the widest section you will need to be able to slide the bracelet over to reach your wrist.
Have fun!
I’m so happy to hear this! Thank you Sandy 🙂

Hi Miri, Average sizes seem to be 9-10 inches. My ankle is 10 inches and I am a plus-sized person. From the few sources I see online it seems like 9 inches is the most common size made 🙂 Hope this helps! Rhondda
