Easy Crochet Doll Patterns and Accessories
My Crochet Doll by Isabelle Kessedjian is a charming book with 50 crochet patterns to create an adorable doll and a variety of stylish outfits.
The book starts with a customizable doll pattern, allowing you to choose the doll’s hair, clothing, and accessories to make her truly unique. From cozy bedtime outfits to playful fancy dress costumes, the patterns offer endless possibilities for creativity. There are even extras like a tiny suitcase that doubles as a bed, making it easy to keep your doll and her belongings together.
Each project is paired with a little story, bringing extra charm and creativity to your crochet experience. Whether your doll is exploring the North Pole with a penguin, splashing at the beach with her air bed, or baking cupcakes in her apron, there’s something magical in every design. With easy-to-follow instructions and plenty of ideas for personalizing your doll, this book is perfect for creating a cherished gift or a keepsake for yourself.
The first 57 pages feature vibrant color photos of all the projects and the adventures you can create for your crochet doll.
The stitches are written in UK Crochet Terms. The stitches, abbreviations, symbols and terms are explained on pages 60-61. A handy comparison of US and UK terms is included.
The stitches used to create the projects are easy stitches and include the following:
chain
double crochet (US – single crochet)
slip stitch
half treble crochet (US – half double crochet)
treble crochet (US – double crochet)
double treble (US – triple crochet)
The stitches have written explanations.
Next we have the Techniques section. It can be found on pages 62 and 63. The following techniques are explained:
crocheting in rows
crocheting in rounds
changing yarn
joining yarn
fastening off the final loop on the hook
weaving in ends
increasing

using markers
assembling granny squares
reading the diagrams
dimensions
No step-by-step images are provided for the stitches, or techniques.
Bergere de France Yarns were used to make the projects included in My Crochet Doll. You will find a detailed list of the yarns and colors used for each pattern in the book on pages 65 and 65. The Designer has indicated that you can substitute your favorite yarns and hooks for the projects but you should try to use yarns that have the same (or similar) grams per meter as the one’s recommended.

Little Red Riding Hood: Dress, hood, ankle boots and basket.
The patterns are written out and include stitch totals at the end of the rows and rounds. There are no step-by-step images for the patterns and the stitch guide and techniques section include only written instructions. The gauge was not specified for any of the designs which will make substituting yarns a bit tricky, especially since more than one yarn type was used for the clothing and accessories and it is not the same as the yarn used for the doll. Based on these factors, I believe the patterns are suitable for intermediate and above crocheters who are familiar with substituting yarns and understand how to crochet and make and assemble amigurumi.
I love the adorable themes you can recreate for your crochet doll. The beautiful images included for each project are inspiring. I think the patterns included are doable and will make wonderful gifts. I love the idea of the crochet suitcase that acts as both storage for your doll and her outfits and as her bed.
My favorite themes are In the Country and At the Beach.
