Moorland Puff Stitch Scarf Pattern
The Yarn
The yarn I selected for this month’s project is called Homespun Prism DK. It was sent to me as part of the Brand Ambassador program with King Cole Yarn.
This beautiful blended yarn is crafted with Fine Merino Superwash and Alpaca wools.
Homespun Prism DK is soft and durable and features a loose ply with gentle flecks throughout. The variegated shades in this textured yarn line are inspired by nature and I loved crocheting through each different shade in the Moorland colorway.
There are currently 10 different colorways available:
- Yuletide (5180)
- Summer Meadow (5181)
- Moorland (5182)
- Rockpool (5183)
- Rain Cloud (5184)
- Heather (5185)
- Dawn Horizon (5186)
- Jade Lagoon (5187)
- Autumn Whisper (5188)
- Ocean Breeze (5189)
Find them in your local yarn shop here. Order them online from Wool Warehouse here.
Homespun Prism DK is a luxurious yarn that is perfect for garments, accessories and other wearables.

Puff Stitch (PS)
TIP! A chain 1 completes each puff stitch.
A photo tutorial is included at the end of the post.
- Yarn over, insert hook into the next ch1sp, yarn over and pull up 1 loop. (Yarn over insert hook into the same ch1sp, yarn over and pull up 1 loop) 3 times. You will have 9 loops on your hook. Yarn over and pull through all 9 loops on your hook. Ch 1.
Helpful Tutorial
Notes:
- Stitch multiple of 2
- Reversible
- Initial ch 1 does not count as a stitch.
- Initial ch 2 counts as 1 hdc. *This means you do not work into the stitch at the base of the chain 2. Remember, since we are counting the chain 2 as a stitch, we need to work into the chain 2 when we return to it on the next row.
- Review the Puff Stitch instructions in Special Stitches – each PS is completed with a chain 1.
- When I work into the foundation chain, I prefer working into the back bar (back bump) of the chain. You can work under the back loop only if you prefer.
- To make this scarf longer, work more rows.
- To make this scarf wider, chain more stitches using the stitch multiple.
- Photo tutorials are available at the end of the post.
