I recently received a sample of three different Red Heart {mix·ol·o·gy} yarns (Thank you Red Heart!).

I have written 2 patterns for you to try – one using two different {mix·ol·o·gy} yarns and a second pattern using 1 single {mix·ol·o·gy} yarn by itself.

The fun part is there are 3 {mix·ol·o·gy} yarns you can choose from: Solids, Prints and Swirls and they are available in 26 different colors – all of these yarns can be mixed and matched, to be used together (or apart) as they all the same thickness and can be interchanged easily. You can take a look at the options at RedHeart.com and pick your two favorites to use in this free pattern!

Red Heart has also provided 18 free patterns on their website for the {mix·ol·o·gy} yarn collection – you can check them out here: {mix·ol·o·gy} yarns free patterns

Note: Try to keep the loops in order as you work so they do not cross over each other on the repeat rounds (unless you want them to cross!).

Pattern Instructions

This project is worked using 2 strands of yarn held together. Pick your 2 favorite Red Heart {mix·ol·o·gy} yarns and let’s get crocheting!

R1: Ch 4 and sl st to the 1st ch to make a ring (we will call this RING 1). Work 1 sc into Ring 1. Ch 100. Ch 4 more and sl st to the 4th ch to make a ring (we will call this RING 2). Work 1 sc into the Ring 2 and chain 100.

R2: Work 1 sc into Ring 1. Ch 100. Work 1 sc into Ring 2. Ch 100.

R3: Rep R2; finish off and weave in ends.

You will have 6 loops when you are finished.

Cut a piece of both types of yarn about 12-inches in length (each).

mix it up beginner cowl - joining rings

Bring the two rings close together and with the chained loops on the outer edges (you may need to slide them to the outer edges of the rings) wrap the yarn around the center of the two loops to join the loops together.

Weave in all remaining ends securely.

To add an extra pop you can affix a brooch to the juncture between the two rings.
