Create unique striped modular blankets with a mix-and-match approach. This book offers 100 crochet strip patterns for modern blankets, providing endless design possibilities. Unlike traditional granny square methods, crocheting individual strips achieves a contemporary look with personalized patterns, colors, and textures.

Modular crocheting is portable and fun, with each strip worked along the short edge, eliminating long starting chains. Patterns are in US crochet terms, with both written instructions and charts for a standard throw-blanket width (40in/100cm). Guidance is provided for adjusting strip widths for various blanket sizes.

Chapters cover Classic Stitches, Tapestry Crochet, Mosaic Crochet, Texture, Cables and Ribs, and Embellishments, enabling countless combinations for unique striped blankets. Additionally, the book features five sample blankets and ideas for using strips in scarves, bags, and homewares.

100 Blanket Strip Patterns

The 100 crochet stitch patterns included for blanket strips are organized into sections. The sections included are:

1. Classic
2. Texture
3. Mosaic
4. Filet
5. Embellishment
6. Ribbing and Cables
7. Tapestry
8. Bobbles, Puffs and Popcorns

Each stitch pattern includes written instructions in US Crochet terms and stitch diagrams. Plus, the stitch multiples have been provided to allow you to make the strip to any size or shape easily.

As written, each strip measures 40 inches in width. You can combine as many, or as few strips as you wish to create the finished blanket length you prefer.

Along with the individual stitch patterns, the designer has included 5 Inspiration Blankets to get you started. The inspiration blankets are predesigned to use specific strips in the book and are shown fully combined so you can see the finished results.

The Inspiration Blankets

1. Dreamland – 11 strips for a combined size of 40 inches X 50 inches
2. Forest Canopy – 11 strips for a combined size of 40 inches X 50 inches
3. Desert Highway – 11 strips for a combined size of 40 inches X 50 inches
4. Frosty Morning – 11 strips for a combined size of 40 inches X 50 inches
5. Neon City – 14 strips for a combined size of 40 inches X 50 inches

Which Inspiration Blanket do you love the most?

• My favorite is Neon City!

The blankets and strips were crocheted using Scheepjes Color Crafter yarn (DK Weight Yarn) and a 5 mm (H) crochet hook. You can use any yarn and hook combination you wish, however your blanket width and length may vary depending on the gauge you achieve.

In the How to Use This Book section (page 8) there is an explanation on how to work with Starting Chain Multiples. This will help you create a blanket to the width you wish using the yarn and hook of your choice.

Beginning on page 134, you will find the Basic Stitches section and it includes written instructions and diagrams for the crochet stitches used in the book. It also explains more about the Mosaic Crochet and Tapestry Crochet Strips that have been included.

• Double Crochet 3 Stitches Together (dc3tog)
• Front Post Double Crochet (FPdc)
• Back Post Double Crochet (BPdc)

Mosaic Crochet

In the Mosaic Crochet Stitch Section (page 138) you will find an explanation on How to Follow a Mosaic Crochet Chart, and a written explanation for 2 special stitches, the change color (cc) and mosaic double crochet (mdc).

Tapestry Crochet

In the Tapestry Crochet Stitch Section (page 139) you will find an explanation on How to Follow a Tapestry Crochet Chart and details on how to work tapestry crochet patterns.

Finishing Section

Once your strips are complete, you will need to visit the Finishing Section of the book on page 140. It includes details about how to Join the Strips (whipstitching was used and is explained here), how to add an Edging after you are finished seaming and how to Block your Blanket. Other embellishments like Pompoms and Tassels are explained here as well.
