Here’s how it works.
I thought it would be fun to make a mitered granny square this week – a relaxing project which you can easily customize to any size you wish by adding more rows – you can also use this to make a scrap afghan and use up some of your excess yarn. The finished size of this dishcloth, with the edging is 7.5 inches x 7.5 inches. I have added a 4 inch by 4 inch version in a solid color, to the end of the post.
To make a regular granny square dishcloth instead – please visit this post:
If you prefer a less ‘frilly’ edge you can simply replace the edging I included below with: Ch 2 (counts as 1 hdc) in the first dc, and then work 1 hdc in each rem dc and 1 hdc in each rem ch1sp around; work (1 hdc, 1 dc, 1 hdc) in every corner ch3sp and then finish off by joining with a sl st in the top of the ch 2.

You can also choose to make this in one solid color – or using a variegated yarn!
Super easy to customize and to make to any size you want! Have fun!!
I hope you find this stitch pattern tutorial easy to follow.

Hi Wandzetta, Thank you 🙂 Actually it doesn’t have an official name – I just winged it when I was edging it and it magically worked out perfectly for the square. The instructions are near the end of the post in the Optional Edging section if you want to give it a try. All the best, Rhondda
What is the name of the border on the different color MITERED GRANNY square. I love this pattern.
