Crochet Loom Blooms Review

Crochet Loom Blooms includes instructions for 30 fabulous crochet flower motifs, a starter flower loom and 5 projects you can make with your motifs.

The loom used for all but 1 of the projects in the book is the Hana-Ami Flower Loom.  Step-by-step instructions with diagrams have been included to explain how to use the Flower Loom and how to crochet the projects. The techniques included in Crochet Loom Blooms are written in US Crochet terms and are very detailed. Tips and Tricks are included throughout the book in blue sections.

Flower Loom Techniques

  • Basic Circular Flower – Single Loop Flowers, Multiple Loop Flowers
  • Using Multiple Looms (some looms can stack several sizes like the Hana-Ami Loom) – Double Flower, Triple Flower, Petal Variations, Other Shapes (triangle, square, hexagon, quarter circle)
  • Pompom-esque Flowers
  • Flower Centers – Fully Sewn Centers, Star Centers, Backstitch Center, Single Backstitch, Double Backstitch, Triple Backstitch, Oversewn Backstitch Center, Flower Bud Center
  • Embellishments

Crochet Techniques

  • Basic Stitches: slip knot, chain stitch, slip stitch, single crochet, half double crochet, double crochet, treble crochet
  • Working into one loop only
  • Working in rounds
  • Decreases and clusters
  • Magic ring
  • Standing Stitches (standing single crochet and standing double crochet)
  • Joining rounds
  • Fastening off and weaving in
  • Blocking
  • Joining Methods (joining on the loom, knots and joining crochet motifs)

Reading the Patterns

This section includes a lot of important information. Diagrams, written instructions and charts are provided for the patterns in Crochet Loom Blooms and this section explains how to read the symbols and written instructions. It also explains why it is important to use the yarn weights recommended in the written instructions.  Flower looms come in fixed sizes so it is very important to read page 37. It will explain why substituting yarn weights is not recommended.

Difficulty Levels are shown by 1, 2 or 3 flowers. One flower (🌸) being “quick and easy” (basic looming and crochet skills), two flowers (🌸🌸) will take a little longer to make and involve a bit more crocheting and three flowers, (🌸🌸🌸) while still easy enough for a beginner are the most intricate of the designs and take more time to complete. Each motif is crocheted in DK Weight Cotton (Vinni’s Nikkim).

Beautiful aren’t they? There is a small circle loom included in the book and it is made of a fairly strong paper product. If you check on page 127 there are two templates included for you to create a large circle and a large square flower loom. This page also explains how you can create looms using wood and nails.

WOW, such options and pretty flowers to make. I learned a lot from your review. I didn’t know flowers could be made with a loom. So tempted now!

Wow, i’d like to get a book like this. Being in our country where crochet is not a number one hobby, books like this are hard to find.

I really want to buy this book! I love how soft and feminine the designs are plus now I feel like I want to try working on a loom too, I’m usually a knitter and crocheter.
