Louisa Ear Warmer Pattern

When you purchase through links on my site, I may earn an affiliate commission.
Here’s how it works.

The Louisa Ear Warmer is a fun design to crochet. The pattern is simple, you only use single crochet and double crochet stitches. It looks fabulous when crocheted in a single color, or when you alternate colors (so it makes a great stashbuster project!).

I have written the instructions for my Louisa Ear Warmer Pattern in 5 different sizes and you can find the instructions for free, in my post below.

Dropped double crochet (drdc): A double crochet stitch worked into the unworked front loop of a stitch located directly below 2 rounds before.

The stitch will be worked in the front loop of the stitch immediately below the next stitch in the current row.

The double crochet stitch is worked as a regular dc stitch: Yarn over, insert the hook under the front loop of the specified stitch, yarn over and pull up 1 loop. Yarn over and pull through 2 loops, yarn over and pull through last 2 loops.

Slip Knot and Starting Chain

Notes:

Multiple of 6+1 (Understanding Stitch Multiples)

When I work into the foundation chain, I prefer working into the back bar (back bump) of the chain. You can work under the back loop only if you prefer.

Work your slip stitches tightly. We will not be working into them and they are not being counted as stitches.

Seam Line Louisa EarWarmer Pattern - OombawkaDesignCrochet
make your slip stitches tightly

The initial ch 1 does not count as a stitch.

Beginning in Rnd 2 all single crochet stitches are worked in the back loop only.

All dropped double crochet stitches are worked in the front loop only, in the stitch immediately below the next st of the round, but made 2 rounds prior.

To add approximately one inch of height to your Louisa Ear Warmer, work 3 extra rounds of single crochet in the back loop.
