Notes
- Stitch multiple: 2 (Understanding Stitch Multiples)
- Crochet stitch pattern : Griddle Stitch aka Lemon Peel Stitch
- The initial ch-3 does not count as stitch unless specified.
- The sl st does not count as a stitch
- Make your sl st tightly
- You may customize the hat height by working the repeat as many, or as few, times as you wish. Every 3 rounds you add with the stitch pattern, will add approximately 1-inch of height to the hat.
- If you would like to add a little bit more height to the hat, work an additional round (or two) of sc in the back loop only.
- I use an invisible join to finish off my final round of stitches, you may substitute a sl st to join if you prefer.
- I use a DMR (double magic ring) to begin my projects worked in the round. You may substitute a magic ring (magic circle), or a chain 3 and slip to form a ring, if you prefer.

My goodness she was a tiny baby! I think she would love that you are crocheting and donating to charity. She has a part in everything you make and do ♥ Blessings, Rhondda
Lillian was my Grandmother’s name. She helped me with my crochet. In fact the first crocheted item I ever made was for her. (it was a mess but she didn’t mind) In 1903 my gram was born weighing 3 pounds. So I will make the preemie size hat and happily donate them to charity in my Gram’s honor. Thanks so much Rhondda
Hi Rebecca, we chain 1 at the end of each round before we turn to begin the next round. You do not need to chain any extra stitches at the beginning of the round. All the best, Rhondda
Once you start the stitch pattern for the hat, do you chain 1 to start a new round?
