Here’s how it works.

My Just an Old Fashioned Hat Pattern was designed with you in mind.

This hat is perfect for everyone. It is simple to make and you can crochet it quickly.

When you make your hat with Bulky Weight Yarn [5], you can crochet a hat as a gift, or to wear yourself, in about an hour.

Just an Old Fashioned Hat Pattern is available in sizes preemie to adult large. This simple hat pattern lets the self patterning yarn be the star and you can create a Fair Isle effect hat with very little work. Free Crochet Pattern. Disclaimer: The yarn used for this project was given to me by King Cole Yarns. If you’d like to try their yarns you can find your local King Cole Yarn Stockist here. Find all my free crochet patterns designed using King Cole Yarn here.

King Cole yarn is available from your local yarn shop, or online at the links in my post below.

I designed my Just an Old Fashioned Hat Pattern to work with Nordic Chunky Yarn from King Cole.

Sometimes you have the perfect yarn for a project and it only needs simple stitches to make it the ‘star’ of the show and Nordic Chunky is that kind of yarn.

When you pair it with my Just an Old Fashioned Hat Pattern, you can make a great hat without worrying about changing colors, or counting stitches.

The yarn takes on all the hard work and gives you a finished hat you will be proud to wear.

Nordic Chunky yarn comes in a 150 g ball and is 80% Acrylic and 20% Superwash Merino. The yarn is soft to the touch and the strand has some thickness to it. The stitches in the hat are defined and the hat holds it finished shape well.

I love self-patterning yarns, that make crocheting easy. Nordic Chunky gives you a Fair Isle effect without any extra work.

  1. What a fabulous hat. Simple but the yarn makes it look much more involved. It’s so pretty!

  2. Hi, Love your pattern, just wanted to let you know that your 3-5 size is duplicated so it’s in there twice, found it when I did the Printer Friendly copy. Just thought you might like to know so you can delete it. Thanks for the great pattern, love it.
