It’s Monday! Today I am releasing two more patterns you can make with your Caron Colorama O’Go Yarn. First up is my Jessica Winter Hat Pattern.
This fun crochet beanie is made with Bulky Weight Yarn [5] and a 6 mm (J) hook. It works up quickly too!
The Jessica Winter Hat Pattern is available in sizes Child (age 6-10 years), Teen, Adult (medium) and Adult (large). The full written crochet pattern is available in my post below.

Yarnspirations sent me a Caron Colorama O’Go Yarn to try and it really was Tangle-Free! You can pull the yarn from either end and it is so easy to work with. My favorite part was that I didn’t have to stop to untangle or unwind, I could just crochet and crochet and crochet.
I made 4 different projects with just 1 skein and have released 4 free patterns for you to be able to do the same!
Jessica Winter Hat Pattern
Supplies
- Yarn: Yarnspirations. Caron Colorama O’Go Yarn. (affiliate link) 6.4 oz (180 g) and 228 yds (208 m). 100% Acrylic. Bulky Weight Yarn [5]. Machine washable and dryable.
- Colors: 1 skein Baja
- Hook: 6 mm (J) Furls Streamline Swirl Cookies N’ Cream hook. (affiliate link)
- Finished Project: Adult Medium Hat: 2.34 oz (66 g) and 83.6 yds (76.3 m)
- Scissors, Yarn Needle, Stitch Marker

This hat is designed between mid-ear and the base of the earlobe.
Child Hat (age 6-10 years) height 7.5 inches X 19 inches circumference
Teen Hat height 8 inches X 20 inches circumference
Adult Hat (Medium) height 8.5 inches X 21 inches circumference
Adult Hat (Large) height 9.1 inches X 22 inches circumference
Gauge
Approximately 6 sts per 3 inches and 4 rows worked in pattern repeat per 3 inches
You can substitute any yarn and hook for this stitch pattern – just remember when you substitute if your gauge is different, the finished size, and amount of yarn used for your project will also be different.

* to **– Repeat the instructions between the asterisks the number of times indicated. This repeat will contain multiple instructions.

Helpful Tutorials
Notes:
- Stitch multiple: 2 (Understanding Stitch Multiples)
- Pay attention to when you are instructed to TURN. We do not turn at the end of every round.
- Back Bar of the Stitch = 3rd loop of the stitch
- The initial ch-3 does not count as a stitch.
- The initial ch-1 does not count as a stitch.
- The sl st does not count as a stitch.
- Make your sl st tightly.
- You may customize the hat height by working the repeat as many, or as few, times as you wish. Every 1 round you add with the stitch pattern, will add approximately 0.5 inch of height to the hat.
- If you would like to add a little bit more height to the hat, work an additional round (or two) of sc in the back loop only.
- I use an invisible join to finish off my final round of stitches, you may substitute a sl st to join if you prefer.

This hat is worked in joined rounds from the top-down.
Child Jessica Winter Hat Pattern (Age 6-10 years)
Using your 6 mm (J) hook (or size required for gauge):
Rnd 1: DMR: Ch 3 (does not count as a stitch), 12 dc, sl st to the first st to join. [12 dc]
Rnd 2: Ch 3 (does not count as a stitch). 2 dc in each st around. Sl st to the first st to join. [24 dc]
Rnd 3: Ch 3 (does not count as a stitch). 2 dc in the first st. *2 dc in the next st, 1 dc in the next st**. Work from * to ** around. Sl st to the first st to join. [36 dc]
Rnd 4: Ch 3 (does not count as a stitch). *2 dc in the next st, 1 dc in each of the next 17 sts**. Work from * to ** around. Sl st to the first st to join. [38 dc]
Rnd 5: Ch 1 (does not count as a stitch). *(1 sc, 1 dc) in the next st, sk the next st**. Work from * to ** around. Sl st to the first st to join. [19 sc, 19 dc]
