Double Crochet Join Technique

US Crochet Terms (UK Crochet Terms: Treble – tr)

  1. Place a slipknot on the crochet hook. TIP: Hold the yarn tail with your hook.
  2. Yarn over the hook. TIP: Place a finger on the yarn over to stop it from moving.
  3. Insert the hook into the stitch or chain space specified in the pattern instructions.
  4. Yarn over the hook.
  5. Pull up one loop. You have 3 loops on the hook.
  6. Yarn over the hook.
  7. Pull through 2 loops on your hook.
  8. Yarn over the hook.
  9. Pull through the remaining 2 loops on the hook to complete the stitch. TIP: You can let go of the yarn tail.
  10. Follow the pattern instructions. The photo example shows the joining double crochet stitch and 4 additional double crochet stitches.
