The Herringbone Half Double Stitch (abbreviated as hhdc and occasionally hbhdc) is similar to the half double crochet stitch (hdc) with one small variation. This makes it an easy beginner stitch to learn.
For UK Crocheters you might see hbhtr or hhtr as the abbreviations for this stitch – it would be called herringbone half treble crochet in UK terms.
This tutorial uses US Crochet terminology.
How to Crochet Herringbone Half Double Crochet Stitch
- Yarn over the hook.
- Insert the hook into the next stitch.
- Yarn over and pull up 1 loop.
- Now pull that same loop through the first loop on your hook.
- Yarn over and pull through the remaining 2 loops on your hook.
