If you have ever wanted to try crocheting something you can wear, then Super Simple Summer Tops is the perfect book for you.

Super Simple Summer Tops

In Super Simple Summer Tops from Leisure Arts, Melissa Leapman Blowney offers you six lovely summer top designs each available in six different sizes (up to size 3X).

Each design includes full written instructions (US Terms) for all six sizes.

I find it incredibly helpful that each size is showing the number of stitches in a size-specific color. For example, size SMALL shows the stitches you need to work, or skip and how many you should have in BLUE. If a section is only for a certain size the title indicates “Sizes MEDIUM and 2X Only” and the font colors catch your eye so you know if the instructions are for your size. When the font is black it means it pertains to all the sizes in the section.

The patterns are each available in the following sizes:

• Small. Approximate Finished Chest Measurement: 35 inches
• Medium. Approximate Finished Chest Measurement: 39.5 inches
• Large. Approximate Finished Chest Measurement: 43.5 inches
• 1X. Approximate Finished Chest Measurement: 47.75 inches
• 2X. Approximate Finished Chest Measurement: 50.5 inches
• 3X. Approximate Finished Chest Measurement: 54.5 inches

The finished chest measurement varies slightly between each of the 6 designs. This is based on the style of the top.

I’ve included an approximate size above for you to get a general idea of the size ranges.

Schematics are included for every design and the measurements for all sizes are in their specific colors. Instructions for special stitches are included at the beginning of each pattern and techniques you need to use, like whip-stitching seams, give you a page reference to flip to for guidance. Each of the designs is considered “EASY” for the crochet level and the way the information is written in the instructions makes the pattern very straightforward and simple to follow.

The designs are lovely and the yarns used are:

• Lion Brand®: Modern Baby®, 24/7 Cotton® and Vanna’s Glamour®
• Patons® Grace™

The tops included are:

• Lace-Trim V-Neck. Light Weight Yarn [3], 5 mm (H) and 5.5 mm (I)
• Enchanting Empire. Medium Weight Yarn [4], 4.5 mm (7) and 5 mm (H)
• Ombre Tee. Light Weight Yarn [3], 4 mm (G) and 5 mm (H)
• Chic Tank. Fine Weight Yarn [2], 3.75 mm (F) and 4 mm (G)
• Belle Tunic. Light Weight Yarn [3], 5.5 mm (I)
• Sweet Boho Top. Medium Weight Yarn [4], 4 mm (G) and 4.5 mm (I)

I love each of the designs included!!

If I had to pick my 3 favorites (this was hard to do!) they are:

• Enchanting Empire
• Belle Tunic
• Chic Tank

These beautiful tops are perfect for warm-weather. I love the variety of necklines and sleeves included too. The stitches used are simple but the finished designs are anything but basic. I am pretty impressed by Super Simple Summer Tops. From the easy to follow written instructions (color coordinated by size), to the wide-range of sizes available for each of the designs this is a great little book!
