MATERIALS AND EQUIPMENT:
– DK Weight Yarn
1) gray (250 m/100 g) – 35 g
2) light gray or off-white (250 m/100 g) – 15 g
3) yellow (250 m/100 g) – 5 g
4) white (250 m/100 g) – 5 g
5) black (250 m/100 g) – 50 cm (about 2 ft.)
– 2.5 mm crochet hook
– polyester fiberfill
– tapestry needle
– scissors

BODY:

1 Rnd: ch. 2, work 8 sc into the 2nd ch. from the hook = 8 sc,
2 Rnd: incr around = 16 sc,
3 Rnd: (incr, 3 sc) – repeat 4 times = 20 sc,
4 Rnd: 2 sc, (incr, 4 sc) – repeat 3 times, incr, 2 sc = 24 sc,
5 Rnd: 24 sc,
6 Rnd: 4 sc, (incr, 5 sc) – repeat 3 times, incr, 1 sc = 28 sc,
7 Rnd: 28 sc,
8 Rnd: (6 sc, 1 incr) – repeat 4 times = 32 sc,
9 – 12 Rnds: 32 sc,
13 Rnd: (incr, 7 sc) – repeat 4 times = 36 sc,
14 Rnd: 2 sc, (incr, 8 sc) – repeat 3 times, incr, 6 sc = 40 sc,

LEGS

1st leg:
1 Rnd: ch. 1, 7 sc, fold the body and work 1 sc into the same sc as the beginning ch.1 = 8 sc,
2 – 7 Rnds: 8 sc, sl. st. into the next sc, fasten off leaving a long end for sewing.
2nd leg:
Skip next 4 sc of the body,
1 Rnd: ch. 1, 7 sc, fold the body and work 1 sc into the same sc as the beginning ch.1 = 8 sc,
2 – 7 Rnds: 8 sc, sl. st. into the next sc, fasten off leaving a long end for sewing. Stuff the hare firmly (a pencil will help to stuff the legs), close the openings on the legs and the remaining 8 stitches of the body.
ARM (MAKE 2):
(with gray)
1 Rnd: ch. 2, work 8 sc into the 2nd ch. from the hook = 8 sc,
2 – 10 Rnds: 8 sc, sl. st. into the next sc, fasten off leaving a long end for sewing. Stuff lightly.
TOOTH (MAKE 2):
(with white)
Ch. 3, 1 sc into the 2nd ch. from the hook, ch. 1, sl. st. into the last ch., fasten off leaving a long end for sewing.
TAIL:
(with light gray or off-white)
1 Rnd: ch. 2, work 6 sc into the 2nd ch. from the hook = 6 sc,
2 Rnd: (incr, 1 sc) – repeat 3 times = 9 sc,
3 Rnd: 9 sc,
4 Rnd: (decr, 1 sc) – repeat 3 times = 6 sc,
- st. into the next sc, fasten off leaving a long end for sewing. Stuff lightly.
MUZZLE:
(with light gray or off-white)
1 Rnd: ch. 6, sc into the 2nd ch. from the hook and the next 3 ch-s, 3 sc into the last ch., 3 sc, 2 sc into the 1st ch. = 12 sc,
2 Rnd: incr, 3 sc, 3 incr, 3 sc, 2 incr = 18 sc,
3 – 5 Rnds: 18 sc, sl. st. into the next sc, fasten off leaving a long end for sewing. Sew down the teeth between Rnds 4 and 5 of the muzzle. Stuff lightly and attach between Rnds 11 and 16 of the body.
EYE PATCH (MAKE 2):
(with light gray or off-white)
1 Rnd: ch. 2, work 6 sc into the 2nd ch. from the hook = 6 sc, sl. st. into the next sc, fasten off leaving a long end for sewing. Attach the eye patches above the muzzle.
EAR (MAKE 2):
(with gray)
1 Rnd: ch. 2, work 4 sc into the 2nd ch. from the hook = 4 sc,
2 Rnd: incr around = 8 sc,
3 Rnd: 8 sc,
4 Rnd: (incr, 1 sc) – repeat 4 times = 12 sc,
5 – 6 Rnds: 12 sc,
7 Rnd: (decr, 4 sc) – repeat 2 times = 10 sc,
8 – 9 Rnds: 10 sc,
10 Rnd: (decr, 3 sc) – repeat 2 times = 8 sc,
11 – 12 Rnds: 8 sc,
13 Rnd: (decr, 2 sc) – repeat 2 times = 6 sc,
14 – 15 Rnds: 6 sc, sl. st. into the next sc, fasten off leaving a long end for sewing.
BOW TIE
(with yellow)
Detail 1:
1 Rnd: ch. 8, sc into the 2nd ch. from the hook and the next 5 ch-s, 3 sc into the last ch., 5 sc, 2 sc into the 1st ch. = 16 sc,
2 Rnd: incr, 1 sc, 3 sl. sts, 1 sc, 3 incr, 1 sc, 3 sl. sts, 1 sc, 2 incr = 22 sc, sl. st. into the next sc, fasten off, weave in the ends.
Detail 2 (knot):
1 Rnd: ch. 2, work 6 sc into the 2nd ch. from the hook = 6 sc, sl. st. into the next sc, fasten off leaving a long end for sewing.
JOINING:
- Attach the ears between Rnds 2 and 5 of the head.
- Attach the arms between Rnds 15 and 16 of the body.
- Stitch the hare with vertical stitches off-white (do not stitch the front of the ears). One stitch should be 1 or 2 sc tall. You can add a stitch to the muzzle to shape it, or skip this one.
- Sew the tail down between Rnds 25 and 27 of the body.
- Embroider the eyes with the French Knots ,
- and the nose and mouth with the Satin Stitch.
- Sew the knot of the tie to the main detail and sew the tie to Rnd 19 of the body.
