Adorable Halloween Crochet Pumpkin Pattern Instructions
The pumpkin is crocheted in continuous rounds, from the bottom-up.
Using your 3.25 mm (D) hook (or size required for gauge) and leaving an 8-10 inch yarn tail:

R24: 1 sc in each st around.
R25: *Sc2tog, 1 sc in each of the next 3 sts**. Rep from * to ** around. [32]
Finish off with an invisible join and weave in the ends on the first pumpkin.
Repeat the instructions to make a second pumpkin but do not finish off.
Flip the first pumpkin inside out and push it inside the second pumpkin. Line up the last round of stitches the best you can and work through both pumpkins under the front and back loop of each stitch, work 1 sc in each st around. Finish off with an invisible join and weave in the ends.
Rejoin your Hot Orange Yarn with a slip stitch in the top of the pumpkin, from the inside of the pumpkin. This means you will insert your hook from inside the pumpkin to the outside of the pumpkin. Work 1 sl st in each st around. Finish off with an invisible join and weave in your ends.
Pumpkin Lid Bottom
R1: With Color A: 8 sc in a DMR [8]
R2: 2 sc in each st around. [16]
R3: *2 sc in the next st, 1 sc in the next st**. Rep from * to ** around. [24]
R4: *2 sc in the next st, 1 sc in each of the next 2 sts**. Rep from * to ** around. [32]
R5-7: 1 sc in each st around.
Finish off with an invisible join and weave in any ends.
Pumpkin Lid Top
R1: With Color A: 8 sc in a DMR [8]
R2: 2 sc in each st around. [16]
R3: *2 sc in the next st, 1 sc in the next st**. Rep from * to ** around. [24]
R4: *2 sc in the next st, 1 sc in each of the next 2 sts**. Rep from * to ** around. [32]
R5-6: 1 sc in each st around.
Do not finish off.
Place the Lid Top on top of the Bottom (RS facing outwards) and work 1 sl st through each st (both layers) around, leaving about 6 sts unworked. Fill the cavity between the Lid Top and Lid Bottom with some Polyfil (or scrap yarn). Just lightly stuff this – it does not need to be firm. Then continue working the sl st in each rem st around. Finish off with an invisible join and weave in any ends.
Stem
R1: With Color B: 6 sc in a DMR [6]
R2-4: 1 sc in the BL of each st around [6]
Finish off leaving about a 6-inch yarn tail for sewing to the top of the Lid.
Using your yarn needle, hand sew the stem to the top of the Lid. Work small stitches around the base of the stem to join them securely. Weave in any remaining ends.
Your Little Pumpkin is complete! You can fill it with small treats, or give it as a gift to someone to cheer them up this Halloween.
If you wish to omit the lid you can add a cute little handle and use it as a goodie basket. Have fun!
Finishing Instructions
10 mm Safety Eye Placement
8 rounds down and placed 9 stitches apart.
Other Options: you can use black felt to cut out eyes and a mouth instead. If you are using felt I recommend using a strong fabric glue to adhere it to the yarn.
Mouth
I hand embroidered the mouth on using a very simply fly stitch.
I sewed a straight line (3 stitches wide) and then inserted my needle at the bottom of the same stitch row in the middle to go over the line and then right back through the fabric in the exact same place to pull the center of the line downward slightly to create a smile. I did this 2 times to make the fine thread I used show up but if you are using heavier fibers you might only need to make the stitch once.
You can watch the YouTube video below (very short) to see how it is done. The only difference is I placed my second one exactly on top of my first one.
