Today I would like to share with you a new free crochet pattern for the Grapesicle Hat. This free hat pattern is available in sizes preemie, newborn, baby, toddler, child, teen and adult. The hat is crocheted in the V Stitch Pattern and can be worked up quickly.

Designed using Red Heart With Love yarn (from my yarn stash) and a 5.5 mm (I) sized hook, the finished hat is soft and comfortable to wear. You can substitute any medium weight yarn for this design (like Red Heart Super Saver, Red Heart Ombre, Red Heart Stripes, etc.).

I have included instructions for 2 different lengths – to the base of the earlobe and mid-ear length. The stitch repeat is made up of sets of 3 stitches (V Stitch is made up of dc, ch 1, dc) and the pattern can be customized to any size using the ratio of 3.25 stitches per inch and 2 rounds per inch. If  you’d like to make the hat longer add 2 additional repeat rows for each inch extra you would like for length.

This is an adorable pattern. Quick question, would it work to add a pom-pom to the hat, or no? Thanks so much.

Hi Dawne, Do you mean the Ch 4 and 1 dc? Each size starts with a chain 4 and 1 dc and then the VSts.

    Thanks!

Please clarify the sts in the magic ring. 4 sc plus a dc in the ring?

Hi Diana, Do you mean the initial stitches after the MR? You work them into the magic ring…as the first round. If I’ve misunderstood your question, please let me know. Thanks, Rhondda

I understand how to do the magic ring, but I’m not sure what to do with the double crochet I’m supposed to add to it at the beginning…? Please advise?
