Notes
- This project is worked in rounds.
- The initial ch 3 (or ch 1) does not count as a stitch and you do not work into it unless specified.
- The sl st does not count as a stitch and you do not work into it unless specified.
- The first dc of each round is worked into the same st you sl st to join to at the end of the previous round unless otherwise specified.
- These hats are designed to reach approximately mid-ear; instructions have also been provided to increase the hat height to reach the base of the earlobe at the end of each section. To increase the height of your hat to a different measurement, simply add more repeat rounds. Work them in sets of 2 rounds (dc and sc sets as described in the pattern instructions below) and for each set you add, you will increase the hat height by approximately 0.6 inches (1.5 cm).

Thank you 🙂 I’m so happy you find the instructions easy to follow 🙂 Have a lovely weekend, Rhondda
Your patterns are lovely and the instructions very easy to understand. Thanks for sharing!!
Love this hat pattern! It’s so sassy and so sweet. 🙂
Not a big fan of cotton yarn — will it work well with acrylic yarn?
Hi Kathy 🙂 There is no ch 1. When you work the round immediately following the dc round and work the stitches between the 2 dc stitches it causes them to ‘spread’ and will make the “V” appear. Hope this helps! Rhondda
I really like this pattern but I must be doing something wrong, my double crochet stitches do not look like “v’s” as in the picture. Am I suppose to be ch 1 after the first double crochet. Help!
