Free Rose Roll Up Crochet Pattern

R1: Chain 121 stitches [121]
R2: 1 hdc in the 2nd st from the hook and in each of the first 5 sts; 1 dc in each remaining st across, chain 2, turn [120]
R3: 1 dc in the 2nd st from the hook and in each dc across (*do not dc in the first 6 hdc of the previous row), chain 1, turn [114]
R4: [1 ss in the 1st stitch, (2 dc, 1 tr, 2 dc) in the next stitch, 1 ss in the next stitch] repeat across, finish off, leaving a long tail for sewing.

Thread a yarn needle on the tail end and then, beginning at the hdc end, wrap the hdc section around your index finger.  Continue to wrap the work until the flower is completely rolled up.  Now using the threaded yarn needle, stitch through all rows of the flower (be sure to catch the initial hdc section)…I usually weave my needle through the work like this:

The flower below is crocheted using Lion Brand Yarns Recycled Cotton Yarn and a 4.00 mm hook.

This flower can be worked with most yarn/hook combinations – have fun!

I used this flower as an embellishment on the Flower Girl Cottage Headband pattern that I posted about last week.

  2. Thanks Rhondda for the roll up flower pattern. It turned out great. I used a #-10 pearl rayon with a small hook. It is so delicate. And you know how hard it is to work with that pearl rayon!
