Are you looking for free crochet poppy patterns to make and wear for Remembrance Day? Then you’re in luck because this post includes links to more than 20 free poppy crochet pattern options.
Remembrance Day commemorates the Armistice Agreement that ended the First World War, on November 11, 1918 at 11:00 am.
Since the end of WWI, Canada has followed the Commonwealth Tradition of honoring our fallen soldiers every Remembrance Day (November 11). From coast to coast, on the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month we have a moment of silence to remember our fallen soldiers and the sacrifices they made for us.
When my children began school they tried wearing the poppy flowers we received from our Legion but they kept losing them on their way to school (or at school). The pins are also not well-suited to younger children and I’ve honestly stabbed myself hundreds of times on them over the years. I have one pin back I saved from another pin (years ago now) that I use on mine (I’ve recently found these pin backs which would be perfect too if you want to wear your Poppy from the Legion).
If you are looking for a handmade option for you too, here are 20+ free poppy crochet patterns for you to choose from. I have tried to include options for a few different styles of poppy in this roundup. Depending on where you live you may prefer one style over an another.
If you do make your own, remember you can still donate to your Local Legion. I’m sure they will appreciate your support!
